I really wish we could bottle all that you don't know about this team and it's managerial structure and philosophies and sell it - we could make a fortune!!!!!

I actually mentioned RNH on purpose because I simply knew you’d then tell me he was rated 1 when taken 1 - which was my point that scouts are often clueless - extremely clueless. I’m not a scout but I knew RNH at 1 was a horrible choice. I also knew you’d tell me about Toews at 3 too. Again proving my point that scouts are often clueless - extremely clueless. Again I’m not a scout but I was extremely happy with Toews at 3 for the Hawks as I knew he should’ve gone 1. DeBrincat at 39. I was absolutely wildly happy. Actually debated John Jaekel on here telling him repeatedly that I didn’t care what the scouts said and I didn’t care that he’d fallen to 39, I simply knew that he would not only make the Hawks but would have a great first season. Chalk one up for Z3. Knott at 54 - knew he’d be slow to develop if he developed at all.

The very best scouts can truly analyze hockey talent because they are highly intelligent people who do not simply rely upon what other people write or obvious statistics - they are best because of their independent thought.

Idk how you're not a scout then.

I was browsing through some past Blackhawks Stanley Cup videos and came across this video from 2011-12 featuring trainer Paul Goodman. Some extensive footage of him working exclusively with Seabrook and Kane.

Not sure how many NHL players do this (doubt very many if any at all), but there's one part where Goodman helps Kane after every period by flushing out the lactic acid buildup in his legs so he's refreshed to start the next period. Don't know the exact science behind that but you have to think that gives Kane an extra competitive edge by paying attention to that finer detail.

And there's a funny clip of Hossa saying Kit Kats are good for you as he flashes 3 packs of them on the team flight.

It’s amazing how sports teams turn over in a short period of time - so many of that team gone in only six years.

Seems like a really tough job for the trainers/equipment managers - travel days must be almost impossible - without the benefit of MLB’s three/four game series or pro football’s one game per week - or even the “less equipment” requirements of the NBA.

Draft a forward with the number 8 pick for a more immediate impact.

Here's another clip that speaks to your comment about the tough job of the equipment managers. In this clip, they were cramped for time upon arriving in NY due to a Black Eyed Peas concert that ended earlier in the night. They set up the equipment early in the morning before heading back to the hotel for a few hours of sleep before the team skate at 8-9am. Then they start packing up in the 3rd period.

Nice to see all of the Hawks skated in the optional skate.

RIP Clint Reif.

Dude, that Paul Goodman is more dedicated than some of these players. He's unbelievable. Unsung hero imo.

Nick Alberga and John Walton were singing Kempny’s praises today. He’s been a rock back there on the 2nd pairing, has had a big impact for the Caps in their playoff run.

They were saying on HNC that the Kempny trade worked out better then the Shattenkirk trade did . Said must be some people back in Chicago wondering how this guy got away ..

Wow a few games ago some posters on here had Tuch on his way to the Hall of Fame - crazy.
- Z3Hawk

Sorry, I never suggested Tuch was a Hall of Famer - merely that the pedigree of a guy 6’4” 220 who stakes like the wind, hits anything in his way, and can score might be the type of player the Hawks need. The type of player exclusively absent from our marshmallow soft squad of active stick and contact averse “skill players”.

Let’s be honest - a couple of tough games after SO many impactful ones. Likely being a little harsh. Trotz adjusted, so it is Gallant’s turn to counter.

Just imagine a guy like Tuch on a line with 19 and 20.....Yeah, we dont need guys like that

Kid has played 84 NHL games to date!! This is what the NCAA route, as opposed to Major Junior, can look like. A physically and mentally mature player at 22 yrs old. Couple yrs in Jrs, couple in the NCAA vs 20+ yr olds, a yr in the AHL and you get a mature player.. Kid has surprised me and even moreso surprised the Wild.

Regular shift on the 3rd line, 2nd unit PP, 22 yr old playing in the 4th rd as a 225lb rookie.

Power forwards take longer to develop as a rule and I'm not writing his career accomplishments yet, long way to go, but he looks like a keeper for sure. A Tom Wilson without the scumbaggery (and I'm a Wilson guy)? Put up more points in his rookie yr than Wilson has in any regular season and is at .5 points per in the playoffs.

Why? Cuz he has size and plays center? ....... Knowing the Hawks if Wahlstrom is available they grab him. As skilled as any player in this draft and the Hawks love skill/speed guys.

No problem with the Finn (a center with size and IQ), Wahlstrom or Hughes.

What wasn't to like? Size, head up, can skate, 900k contract, stout, skilled enough to help in the Ozone who is now paired with the top points Dman in the NHL, is in the 4th rd of the playoffs and his coach had him on the ice the last minute nursing a 3-1 lead with a minute to go and the goalie pulled in Game 3.

This is what the Q-StanBow two headed monster looks like and the reason I've come to the conclusion that it really doesn't matter who plays 2C, 3C, 2LW, 1RW or in the 2nd or 3rd pairing on D. The league is becoming littered with Hawks who are either on cup teams or playing important roles for their clubs who StanBow and Q "disagreed" on.

Ehhhh he's been okay, i know he won't win it but the MVP should go to Holtby, without him Blue Jackets advance to the second round
