Well done. Seems to me this begs the question of why the Flames didn't give them an honest chance to show what they could do - especially at the end of the season when they were out of it. Wouldn't this have been a BT responsibility, at least as much as GG's?

Thanks for the write up Todd, we can use some positives stories around here.

Question, I know your a scout for the OHL so I assume you’ll be watching the memorial cup. Could you put together something on Glen Gawdin? I know he puts up points but is this kid for real?

Most GMs don't really think that you get an accurate representation of a call-up playing on a team that's just playing out the string. That being said, Andersson did play the last nine games of the season and wasn't all that impressive.

He said he works for Saskatoon so he can't write about WHL players. Everyone you talk to will give you the same answer about Gawdin. He's 21 playing in a league where the average age is under 18. It's pretty much impossible to figure out if he's for real because of the massive physical differences that go on at those ages. It's rare that an overage player that dominates in the CHL to continue that success as a pro.

Excellent looking prospects. And so much for the Oiler fan narrativethat Bear is so much better than Andersson or Kylington since he’s below them on that list.

I believe we were out of regular post trade deadline recalls or we May have seen Kylington as well as Andersson to close out the season.

Yeah we were. I think Kylington was called up towards the end as an emergency but we weren't allowed to play him unless we couldn't dress 6 defenseman. Emergency call-ups can't play unless there's an injury.

LOL, dude, do you have a hate on for life or what? At the very least, he held his own over the final 10 and didn't make many glaring mistakes. A -1 considering the way the team playerd and the lineup out there most nights is fine by me. He'll pickup some points next year, he'll be fine.

Let's have a little fun once in a while. Can we try?

So you're saying he wasn't all that impressive, but who really cares because the team had basically given up by the time he got into the lineup. So you're basically just echoing what I said.

I thought he looked pretty good out there. He has a great breakout and a great fake out that opened up so many passing lanes. None of our current defencemen have ever tried the moves he was doing. So simple and so effective. I bet he comes out flying next year now that he's played a few games in the NHL.

I don't know what games you were watching but just because he wasn't putting points up does not mean he "wasn't impressive".

His stretch pass accuracy and exits looked as good as any that I've seen from the blueline this year. Was he supposed to go point-a-game on an offensively struggling team to be seen as effective?

Really want to see what Kylington can eventually bring on the offence.

Nope, actually not what I was saying at all, but nice try.

He wasn't dominant, he didn't score 10 points in 10 games. If he had, you would just discount it anyways, so you're damned if you, damned if you don't.

He played a solid, stable game as a rookie playing on a reduced roster, and I think he more than held his own against NHL level talent (with more complete rosters). If you're not impressed by that, I'm sorry for you.

Given the performances by Brodie, Hamonic and Stone throughout the regular season, being veterans in the NHL, I would call it pretty damn good.

I hope the Flames read your posts, and bring both of the up for the 2018/19 season. I think that the Flames should use Hamilton as a trade chit and get some good young skilled pieces for him.

Put Brodie back up with Gio, Kulak with Hamonic and bring up Anderson and Kylington, alternating them with Stone.

Peters had a young defense corp in Carolina who did fine.

I like Hamilton but I think he can get the Flames what they need. Knowing the fear the Flames have in losing a trade I imagine they trade Brodie, most likely to Montreal for Pacioretty whose going on 30 and his best days are behind him. Plus Montreal fearful of the perception that media there will speculate that Brody wasn't enough and Treliving ends up including a young player like Jankowski in the trade. Which will in years to come show the Flames lost this trade.

Hamilton could get 1 to 2 younger top six type forwards well under the age of Pacioretty. I like Toronto's Kapanen and Andreas Johnson, plus a pick for Hamilton. Toronto needs what Calgary has, Calgary needs what Toronto has. A great pure win win hockey trade. If Toronto doesn't work I'm sure there are plenty of teams who would want Hamilton on their roster and are willing to make a deal.
