interesting how few want to "actually" post an opinion in the comments on this and yet MANY of you in the poll are saying you don't think they deserve it...

The Vegas players have absolutely earned it, but as a fan, I don't want any fanbase winning a championship in the first season!!!

Not fair...wahhhh

It's good for the league. Fanbases and tradition are built by winning above all else.

Odd wording for the poll... it comes off as saying the Golden Knights haven't worked as hard to get where they are. While one may not want for them to win it, you can't say the Vegas team hasn't worked hard to get to the position they're in.

In all seriousness nobody deserves it more than the Jets, they have better fans, their players have more heart ect, ect.

Or maybe people don’t want to “actually” post an opinion because it’s saturday morning and people have better things to do?

It would look terrible for the league if an expansion team essentially bought the cup, which is what Vegas is doing. The NHL is already not taken as seriously as the other big sports, this is making it look even worse. If I were an owner (or fan for that matter) you’re damn right I’d be choked that a team was handed a contending team and high draft picks. This is not a good look for the NHL.

I've been on the bandwagon since the 1st round. Until recently, it was just to see how long the story could last. Now, I have to entertain the possibility that they could win the Cup... and I don't mind.

Why shouldn't they win? The only possible answers revolve around concepts that fans have made up and become attached to, like needing to put in your dues, needing to have lost first, needing to build through the draft and so on. If you believe in those things and want the Knights to lose because of them, then you're just being stubborn and selfish because you don't want to be wrong.

There's no reason why the team that's on the ice deserves it any less than any other team that's been on the ice. They've done the work, proven to us that it's a team game and deserve their success.

I would never take away anything away from Vegas as an expansion team going as far as they have but am I the only one who felt the NHL gave them alot better picks to grab from other teams who were only allowed to protect a very limited smount of their rosters then allowed Vegas to make trades with teams to protect their players they did not want taken away. I don’t remember an expansion team in sny sport getting as many draft picks as they did year one. I guarantee at least 9 or 10 franchises would reshuffle their rosters in a second given the same rules!

I give total props to George McPhee and Gerard Gallant, they were very smart in the way they acquired the players that they did and how they managed to create a winning culture so quickly. The Ownership and Marketing have been top notch. It was amazing watching the opening of the game 3 of the Conference Finals. That being said, I agree with the guy that said this team was a creation of the NHL to succeed as quickly as possible, I'm sure the league is thrilled that Vegas exceeded even Bettman's expectations. They made the freeze rules so that teams would either have to leave a really good player available or teams would have to work side deals and feed Vegas with prospects or picks. The problem I have is that I think this the first time since the original Expansion in 1966 that only 1 team came in as an Expansion team, They didn't have to share the exposed players with another Franchise, They didn't really have to fight through the Hardships of trying to grow a winning culture like every other team, who entered the NHL as an Expansion team. So in that regard Vegas is a team created by the league to succeed.

It's a cool story and in a way I hope they win it all.

Two areas that need to be considered:

GM, coach, players: They have played excellent all year. Every game this year, there wass a player who has a chip on his shoulder against the team they played. ALOT of motivation for an entire season

Yes, Vegas had advantages over any other NHL expansion team in the past...

No other expansion team to compete against in expansion draft and the perameters that Vegas got on who could be protected on each NHL team strongly favored them....BUT McPhee and Co. picked right players.

Next year will be a good test to see if they can keep it up.

Or maybe we want other teams to win because we have more invested in them??

It's not whiney "they haven't earned it." It's "I like Ovechkin" or "I'm pulling for the Jets because they are exciting to watch."

Those options are Middle School drama bull poop.

I didn't like the fact that the players eligible for expansion were...expanded upon. They essentially paid money to get a better team. If you look at the team Atlanta iced for that first season, you can see the difference.

At the same point, the players have no blame or fault in this. I root for the players of Las Vegas, but not the management...if that makes any sense. I don't want the Cup to be bought and paid for, but I also don't want to take anything away from a team that is playing well and working extremely hard to succeed.

You have to give Vegas a ton of credit, but no doubt they were given big advantages no other Expansion teams received.

Totally spot on.

I have a Ranger friend who hates the idea of Vegas winning. I’m less bothered by it.

We’ve all seen a lot of Cinderella cup runs crash in the finals so I’m still expecting this to not happen. But if they do, hats off to them.

IF Vegas wins the cup. The NHL is a garbage league not worth anyone's time watching. Totally fixed. maybe NBC is right to schedule games in non prime time.

This. We fans criticize these morons running these teams and are correct in our assessments far more often than the teams are. I've been on the Knight train for a quite a while now.

I feel Gallant should be in the HOF immediately if LGK win the Cup.
