Its hard to screw up the #1 overall. But our pipeline from all these other picks we have had the last few years is underwhelming. Seriously, Quenville, Matteau, McLeod and Zacha, who has lived up to where they have been picked. If we didn't sign Butcher (another bit of good luck) our youngsters would be even less impressive. Perhaps they are all late bloomers, or perhaps we really need to spend on some free agents.

I think this is the nature of the beast. Picks are just educated guesses and most don’t turn into NHL quality players. Im sure some teams do better then others but overall we probably aren’t that different then most.

Its great when you get on later round picks, but lets not get carried away

Nico and Larrson were both lottery gifts. No lottery win and who knows who we get.My point is you need more of your first rounders to produce than the Devs have gotten and their later picks are question marks or depth players. Need to do better.
