Why couldn’t he take a position with the Hawks before his contract expired?

Didn’t Pronger take a League position while still under contract?

- StLBravesFan

I don’t believe you can have two jobs from the same team as it would be a way to go around the cap. Pronger was paid by the nhl

Maybe he'll be an unofficial scout for them back home.

Very interesting to see what Bettman and the suits do now. Do they put the screws to Rocky for his father's failure, or do they know not to piss away the #1 martket team in the league?

By keeping their organization first class, we learn Marian Hossa will work for the Blackhawks after his contract expires.
THIS is how you build a long-term championship caliber organization.
I will miss him horribly as a player, though. Consumate two-way player. EVERY forward would be well served to emulate him.

Loosen the tinfoil. Its cutting off the flow to your brain. Nothing to see here at all. The league sent him to a clinic so they are well aware of the condition. The Hawks will continue to use the LTIR or trade his contract. Though, giving up an asset more than a Clendening type to move his contract is foolish.

If they rebuild the entire defense core then Patrick Kane can lift this team to Wild-Card contention next year. Let’s not forgot how far out of the mix they were this year....still no certainty in goal either
- EnzoD

The D was better than appeared - it was Ulf’s system that was awful. 33-39-10 becomes 38-34-10 with just 5 more wins. 43-29-10 with 10 wins. Hawks lost lots of games at end of year after were eliminated. Also lost lots of goalie games. So my opinion is the record is misleading but is correctable in any event. The team has the ability to bounce back. I see nothing with the Final 8 teams, the Final 4 teams that screams great, deep teams.

International hockey can be very frustrating. Teams that outshoot and outchance their opposition by a wide margain can receive zero or few PPs. USA and Canadian goaltending was also shaky when it counted. USA - Sweden game should've been much closer. Canada lived in the Swiss zone.

Do worry until some defensemen are changed out. What could possibly motivate Keith and Seabrook with the borderline mates manning the other blueline spots. Oh my Q is now all out relentless. New over the top hype from a coach on life support if the same horsecrap coaching continues. How is the powerplay being rectified? Some other coaching like the drop pass wind up out if their zone, how they dump pucks in corner and not on it at the net sometimes, the forwards don't help the dmen enough, on and on ...the favorite seems to be the coaching blender

Until the team adapts change, until toughness throughout the line up - just more push back, not Clark Gillies you know. Predicting how close they were to winning more games is comical until these issues are addressed. Z3 you are usually a sharp read but your heart is ahead of the facts. I don't like being negative. But Q head coach is in charge of making things work even when the GM doesn't give you enough correct pieces

I would certainly prefer if Q and Ulf were not back but it is what it is. I hope I am not wrong about expecting a re-bound in spite of their return. Need to play more safely. Need better goaltending whether that involves Crawford or not. Also it cannot be be a year long Blender for D or Forwards. Why I have some positivity is I believe these issues will be addressed. To not address them would be insane. Also it is not difficult to address them. Of course Q and Ulf could be stubborn and just crush my positivity.

From this article
https://chicago.suntimes....laying-career-is-over/amp

"Hossa recently put his Chicago home up for sale, and told the Slovakian paper he and his family will return to Slovakia. He suggested he would take a job with the Hawks organization once his contract expired. Hossa can’t simply retire without the Hawks being hit with significant recapture penalties that would count against the salary cap, so he’ll have to wait out the contract."

Sounds like he will ride out his contract on the shelf and the Hawks will just juggle his LTIR or trade him.

Yep, not Cap Circumvention at all

5.5 million Cap hit when he was making 8 or 9 million winning cups all gets "washed away" with "I'm retired due to Medical/Injury" BS

Shouldn't matter, should always be the risk in signing any player to a long term deal

Love to see the NHL stand up and call them out on this

Offsets the fact that a contract accepted by the league as legal and conforming to the CBA without potential recapture penalties AT THE TIME was subsequently determined to be non conforming in the new CBA.

Nice ex-post-facto judgment.

Ask yourself one question before you decide whether this is cap circumvention:
Would you rather in 2018/2019 season have Hossa and his $5.25m cap hit on the roster, or whomever the Hawks can sign for $4-5m to replace him?

This is a devastating loss for then Hawks, as was highly evident last year. He is a great, two-way player, makes his teammates better, and raises the class, compete and leadership levels of the entire team.

Here is a question was looking at capitals cap situation they have several key players that need to be resigned this coming offseason and next offseason. Should the hawks make a big push. To get wilson who is a rfa this offseason looking for a raise what would it take to acquire him?

now close it out in G6...

Do you think Washington let's him go. He can play part time minutes with some good players in Washington to inflate his personal stat's. If he leaves it will not be due to the Caps refusal to offer a very good deal

However one of those goaltenders will not be returning. Samsonov is the new hot goalie prospect whom they are enamorated but Caps may not rush to start him if he needs to work on things. Btw are you looking at the top 50 potential free agents story. A synopsis about the players"value and performance as each day more on the list are reviewed. Whom is in the top ten? On score app.

Good Points caps have sign Carlson which he will get 6-8 million per season plus Rfa's its just a numbers game who do the Capitals value and who can they sign. Wilson probably will get 3-4 million per year. I'm also using Wilson as an example of what type of players the hawks need to sign or trade for this offseason. Players with skill size speed and pushback.
