Justin Lowe: I Have a Rumor
I heard recently that the Rockford IceHogs were a damn good team. I'm still waiting to confirm with a source though.

Joking aside, I will have a little preview below on the ‘Hog/Stars series that kicks off tonight but wanted to address all of the rumours (yes, I'm using the Canadian version now) that are out there regarding primarily Toews and Crawford.

Maybe first

Anyway good to have food for thought

We should expect nothing less than reinforcements coming from either f/a and or trade to bolster the blue line. Prospects who eventually move in and are not as terrible as the crew last season - the blueline crew - is the first key. I think Stan gets that as in mentally and through transactions

Secondly relentless must mean much more push back throughout line up, not meaning merely team speed and well we now have Martinsen and Hayden. Top six, Stan. You and Joel fail in this then it is only matter of time your and.Joel hides are on a chopping block.

One bold move Stan completes maybe later is moving Crawford to a contender who needs a solid alternative.

This season a few teams might have fared better and not afraid to sit the incumbent. There have been trying times, indeed, in Nashville, Washington earlier on, even Winnipeg. I would desperately try to trade our second plus Crawford for their first and third. It is an opportunity to draft a top tier prospect.

Relentless = running 4 lines. Relentless = pressure on the forecheck. Relentless = getting after it and throwing some wood. Relentless = keeping the area around your net clear. We will see Q. We will see.

Not moving Q now will set this team back. This team needs new a philosophy behind the bench. He is saying whatever to keep his job. Q will always be Q and will fall back into bad habits when the team struggles and is losing. Just dont see Q changing much at this stage in his career.

If Toews and the Hawks have another below average season the whole legacy thing will likely be dismissed.

The very moment he was reported to be returning, my exact thoughts is a mirror to your post. We finally get an.opportunity to draft a top tier player do let us not be do.pissef off if Stan trades down. He put himself in.this position if he does, indeed, trade down. He couldn't see the blueline trending toward bad, he knew it was quite likely a lot of young guys would play defense, and the team might finish with an early draft choice. He has to out if for one probably two dmen. He could yrafr one skill.yoing forward for a top six more tough and yimble forward. Anyone can.play armchair GM. Will Stan make hood moves.

Makes you wonder how bad his back issues are. The body can only take so much. The guy was a beast. Wonder if that Blues playoff series in 16 did him in along with Seabs. I know 7 came out of that series barely able to get on the plane.

FWIW, Eklund is reporting that Hawks are kicking the tires on both Jack Johnson (not news since this has been reported before) and Shea Weber (rumored last year at some point but resurfacing it seems).

So from what you wrote its like the hawks are kinda grasping at straws and hoping something works. Its almost like treading water watching the teams right now in the playoffs hawks are not even close they have the core and some nice pieces but not playoff pieces. In my opinion bowman needs to hit on a lot things this offseason with his track record not counting on that. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Yes, generally agree with you. Relentless entails attacking in waves by all 4 lines and defending in waves by actively pressuring in the neutral zone, at the blue line, and in our zone. Relentless also means playing full throttle from beginning to end.

Is Q and his current coaching staff the leadership to get it done on the ice? I'm leaning towards no but will support them until I'm eating crow or they prove that they simply are not the right crew.

I think he'll bounce back but he may have to change his game to adapt. The Eric Staal way.

I’ve come to the conclusion that this means, this is definitely not happening.

Dear Justin:

On Hockeybuzz, the correct spelling is “roomers.”

Oh, and don’t ever mock Julie. She loves hockey.

Have a great day.

What would Karlsson's agent think if Bowman traded Toews? Why he might just think KACHING!! and go out a buy a new Cadillac.

Cadillac?

That’s the most expensive car you could think of?

Pretty disappointing, considering your screen name.

I would rephrase the part about the core pieces here now. The team has some nice pieces who can become core pieces, but they would be greatly aide by the sort of players the team is sorely lacking

If you can't spell the player's name, you're not allowed to trade for him.

@bingo

So the vast majority of Ek's roomers (read all) aren't happening because of spelling? This legitimately explains a lot on this site. Explains Garth a lot too

Think you are correct, and I suspect Toews does, too, based on his comments. However, I think it's unlikely he'll be allowed to do so under Q. Q has his system, there are predefined roles in that system, and you fill the role you are given.

Maybe (and I'm hoping) he'll prove me wrong and adapt his system to the current state and skills of the players on his roster.
