Think this makes us worse for a couple years, then better. I'd rather take Yamamoto instead of 10.

If it aint the big 3, I don't put much into it. The offer's ok.. they're similar in defensive abilities, plus you get a seemingly 2nd tier elite defenseman in that spot that you might see in two years. Hughes, Dobson, Smith, Bouchard.. Good for the long term by giving us another top 4 dman, but short term, probably makes us worse.

Klefbom in an off year was still a far better puck mover and better defensively than Risto.

It makes sense to show what the highest potential cap hit is. Just got me thinking as I'm always assuming ELCs are that standard charge across the board when in reality those performance bonuses can add almost 50% to that number for each season.

It's even more than 50%. Eichel gets the standard 925k, but has 2.85m of performance bonuses. It's not a big deal to Buffalo right now, but it hits Toronto hard.

Klefbom, if not better than Risto is at least comparable, and with the 10th pick you're likely getting the new best prospect in the system if you figure Dahlin and Mittelstadt are here full time. Easy trade, 100% yes

Klefbom for Risto is a wash and teh #10 guy has a chance to come in and play right away.

You take that trade and run.

If Dahlin is more comfortable on the right side you have

ive read he's more comfortable on the left, but he can play the right.

On smaller ice, you'd really be limiting his impact moving him to his weak side. I listened to an interview with Bowman who said something along the lines of you only move your weak defenders to their off side because their impact on the game is minimal anyways.
