The question is who will you be mad at?
- MJL

The correct answer would be Hextall, Hakstol, or the players themselves depending on how camp goes

My question wasn't multiple choice!

My answer isn't either. It is dependent on future events proceeding to make a correct judgement in each case.

Skinner would be interesting. Wreaks of not being worth what it would take to get him, but man he would be a great add. I'd still want Stone more than him, but I'd rather have Skinner over Hoffman

I started doing 5ks last year and they are a lot of fun. This year I already did a half marathon, which was not as much fun but was very rewarding.

I can't stand just running as a hobby personally, but that's awesome to set a goal and accomplish it!

Agreed. Nothing wrong with being an AHL star. Makes a good living (albeit not NHL money) and will be in demand longer within the league than the average fringe NHL player.

During the Flyers Alumni Trip to Russia last year, I talked to Freddy Cassivi (AHL Hall of Fame goalie) about how I thought he could have at least been an NHL backup. He did get into 13 NHL games, but mostly spent his career in the AHL; most notably with Hershey. He was pretty philosophical about it, saying that he still felt he had a good career, there are only so many NHL jobs (especially for goalies) and he still got to live out his dream of playing pro hockey including some time in the NHL.

No shame in that, whatsoever!

At some point, I would look to play in Europe. Something like Germany or Switzerland. I feel like that would be a fun experience as well.

Ill be mad at Hakstol. Because it doesn't matter if they earn it or not, they should be on the team NO MATTER WHAT!

I will be legit mad if 2 of Vecchione, NAK, and Vorobyev don't make the Flyers this season
- YuenglingJagr

I think Vecchione and NAK are good bets to be on the team.

yeah, but it was Lindros who finally took a stand and made the powers that be take concussions seriously and not just as "getting your bell rung"
- MBFlyerfan

Agree with this point.

The only prominent professional athlete I can recall hearing prominently about concussions growing up was Roger Staubach (link: https://www.usatoday.com/...h-concussion-nfl/2730207/).

Staubach, however, was no where near the advocate or the agent of change that Eric Lindros was (and still is).

That's really the least of my anger directions on roster spots. Player first, then Hextall, then Hakstol.

Well done! The half marathon is my favorite race. Long enough to require a real training plan but not so long as to dominate your life while training (like the full marathon does).

Thoughts on these comments? I would think NAK needs to change something in his game so he stops getting suspended?

Gordon on Aube-Kubel who comes back from his 3rd suspension:
"Just keep hitting. None of those hits are dirty hits. Each one of those hits, their player saw him coming, they chose not to respect the fact that he was going to lay a check on them and put themselves in a bad situation. I think if you ask any G.M. in the NHL they would take a player like that who is willing to finish checks and do it the right way. He suffers the consequences down here but I don't know that the same result would happen in the NHL."

NAK is already on my "this guy is a problem and I'm not sure I want him on the team" list

Yep seems the kid just doesn't understand that he needs to target a little lower so that if the person he's going to hit does change position he's safe.

Not looking to start any huge discussion, but I was at the Close out game in Charlotte and I thought Vechs and Ghoul were clearly 2 of the best players on the ice.

Ghoul's play especially shocked me....he was showing great speed and reading the play well. much the same for Vechs.

Makes me wonder if Scottie gets 3c and Vechs gets a strong 4C look.

I was at the game too and agree with you but I also thought Meyers and Bardreau had good games.

I think the problem starts with the guy saying the hits are clean and he should keep doing it

Agreed, congrats Feanor. Would have quoted you directly, but first page quotes were not working.

I've never done a half, but signed up for one with my girlfriend near the end of September. However, I am also currently training for a 50k trail run in the beginning of September.

Well that guy is clearly wrong and cannot support his assertions with facts. The facts clearly illustrate that the hits are not clean.

Wait, you've never done a half marathon but you're going to tackle a 31 mile trail event? Have you ever done a full marathon?

Yup - he's clearly a slow learner. I'm pretty much going to see him as "a suspension waiting to happen" kind of guy unless he has a very long stretch of clean play.

I have not, I know a bit unorthodox, some would even say crazy or stupid I guess. But I am an avid runner, and have confidence in my fitness level, and have allowed adequate time for training and to build up my mileage. I always told myself I wanted to do a marathon, but I just enjoy the challenge and adventure of running trails more than the road, so here I am.

Edit: To be clear, I've ran the distance of a half marathon before, just never done an actual event/race.

Obviously. My rhetorical question was alluding to the tendency for the fan base to blame the coach or the GM rather than the player for not making the team.
