WPG VGK was an awesome game. Both very fun teams to watch. Jets are certainly better, but just couldn't get it by Fleury enough last night.

Thoughts on Serron Noel?
- arichardson22

Not Mono -- who has a good better eye, but he's a big fluid skater, very good hands, good pick around 20-25 imo. He is certainly a project.

JT will get around $11m AAV for 7 years. Only the Islanders can give him 8 years.

I think he's a little over hyped. Other guys I would rather have at 19 and honestly probably at 20-25

Hextall can't stay pat, we need to improve to win a playoff series. Certainly, signing John Tavaras is an answer, but few teams want to take on an $ 8 mil for possibly 8 years. It could be worse.

Why not make both JVR and Evander Kane offers. If both sign, we are dumping two contracts, hopefully one goaltender and saving money there. Get rid of the St. Louis guy, buy out the last yr, we can afford both.

Any chance. Certainly, both those guys get offers from others teams too. Tavares may not, only his home team.

- atlasgibbs

They aren't going to stand pat. They'll make some additions and use their draft picks. There is tons of room for internal improvement. If you're looking for Hextall to make a big splash in free agency, I think you're going to be disappointed. Now is not the right time for that.

If another team acquires his rights prior to July 1st, they are then able to give him 8.

Nope. We went over this a couple of months ago.

Article 50.8 Prohibited SPC Terms and Practices, (b), (iv)

An SPC with a term of greater than seven (7) years, provided, however,
that a Club may sign a Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8)
years if that Player was on such Club's Reserve List as of and since the
most recent Trade Deadline. With respect to potential Unrestricted Free
Agents only, the ability to re-sign a Player to an SPC of eight (8) years
expires when the Player becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent.

That's fair - I have not seen a whole lot of him. His highlights and additional writeups, thats about it.

I think I'm falling in love with theidea of his skill sets and his overall ceiling but I don't know the likelihood he gets there. I'm rooting for him.

If somehow they COULD package 14 and 19 to move up to the top 8, would you?
- MBFlyerfan

Yup, I think Dobson, Walhstrom, Tkachuk, Boqvist and Kotkaniemi are all can't miss NHL players who will probably be above average players and have at least a 50/50 shot at being star players. I don't think you can really say that about anyone else save the top 3 guys who will all be off the board. I'd look to a team like Vancouver who probably has quite a few holes to fill and I'd happily offer 14 and 19 to get that 7th pick. I just don't see the Canucks making that move though.

On a technicality there's a sign and trade possibility. Probably the second best outcome for the Isles at this point.

when a team gets to hand pick their roster from the rest of the league it's pretty easy

Is it? It's not like they got to pick anyone's best players or legit superstars. This team is winning because they work and skate their tails off, they've to a man completely bought into their coach's system and they are getting great goaltending from an experienced, Cup winning goalie. Kudos to Gallant for getting this team to play so damned hard night in and night out, he's done a fantastic job.

Obviously, there were at least 10 skaters and a goalie that they cared about more. No team lost any of what they considered to be there top 8-10 players. Did Vegas have it easier than any other expansion team did before? Absolutely. However, they should not be competing for a Cup and it's a testament to the GM, coaches and especially the players that they are.

I thought, like many did going into the season, that they would at least be a speedy competitive team. Personally, I thought that 90-95 points would be the absolute ceiling for them and that if Fleury perhaps had a monster season, they could sneak in as the 8th seed in the West. That being said, I had them finishing 5th in the Pacific and 12th overall in the conference.

Whether you want to hear it or not, what they are doing is incredible and even if they go on to lose this series to the Jets, they've had an absolutely amazing season.

1. Flyers could never play that system right now as they dont have the team speed.

2. Would be fun for them to one day play that style. That Nashville series and this one just shows what boring trash we are exposed to.

League is heading more and more toward speed and aggressive hockey.

Exactly ask any of these clowns that are now saying Vegas had it easy where they thought Vegas would be after the expansion draft. They would have had them scraping the bottom 5 of the league. Gallant, his staff and, I'm going on a limb, Fleury have them going so well. There is a reason no one wears a C on that squad. The C is Fleury, watching the tunnell before games you can tell to a man how much respect he has in that locker room. It's a great story and I'd bet the chip on all those guys shoulders was huge when they showed up at camp before the season.
