Edler and Sutter are locks for letters. Other one is between Gudbranson/Horvat/MDZ
- Nucker101

3A's I would see it as Edler, Horvat and Sutter. C and 2 A's Horvat, Edler and Sutter. Maybe have Gudbranson if healthy, as a A for away games?

I am a firm believer that at least 1 of uour top 2 defenseman should have a letter, can Edler and Tanev rotate A's?
Obviously only if Tanev is still here, if not, maybe Stecher😁

- Reubenkincade

Don't forget about Hutton. Canucks Army likes his corsi

Horvat is definitley getting a letter. If he doesn't get the C it's because they roll with 3 A's. imo
- CanuckDon

I think this as well

Sutter, Edler and Horvat is my guess for A’s

Yeah I could see them giving Gudbranson or Tanev time with an A. I definitely think Sutter and Edler are their go-to guys for the As though

Edler's last year. Be interesting to see what they do. Hoping no extension and take a run at one of the big 3 next year.

Well said. Off the ice he set many examples. But yes on the ice is where I would clarify that I didn't think he was Captain material. As you said more passion/emotion and toughness were needed IMO. But still he commands a mountain of respect.

Honestly, the real leaders lead and the players see past the letters. There are teams who have a Captain that plays secondary leadership roles to someone else occasionally. Sometimes a good leader cannot handle media and talking with arrogant refs after every penalty call etc... so he has an A because his example on the ice is undeniable during play and has a locker room presence when needed.

I would have never given an A to Kesler. Some of his selfish dives that he got busted on but followed the ref around female doging til he got sent to the box etc... selfish douche even in the locker room.... but he worked his ass off when the puck was dropped. That has to be why he had it or I'm confused.

Also true. However you look at how the Jets react to Wheeler and how Maurice speaks about him at almost every press conference...there will always still be something to the status of who wears the C and how they bring it across. But I totally understand what you are saying that leadership doesn't always need a 'title' or letter...but it does help in some cases...lots of intangibles.

I actually think Henrik was a fantastic captain off the ice. One of the best in the league.

Amazing at handling the media in a hockey market during bad times(he answered every question after they just lost the SCF, most men would not do that, including most/all posters here). People got frustrated that he’d stay positive during losing streaks but that’s exactly what he’s supposed to do and I’ve seen other captains get ripped by their fans for doing the same things.

A near perfect example off the ice, gym rat, never heard rumours about him being a party animal lol, always in the best shape before training camp. Charity work, donated a million (frank)ing dollars. Every ex-player seems to respect the hell outta him. Even Kesler on the Ducks never really tried to (frank) around with Henrik, I remember him having no issues with putting Hansen in a head lock during a board battle in his first game as a Duck against us though lol.

On the ice I do wish he showed some more passion/emotion at times for sure.
