I wasn’t criticizing. He was just the first Russian player drafted I could think of.
Enjoy your ban. - Steven_Seagull
Don't give me credit because I looked it up, but the first commie pinko Russkie bastard Russian drafted by the Leafs was Alexander Godynyuk - 1990, 6th round. |

old man lou is going to be nothing without dubas to keep him senile.
don't tell lou i said that. - Tumbleweed
With Lou likely leaving, I'd like the Leafs to hire Ken Dryden or some other senior adviser. Cliff Fletcher lost his mind years ago, he's not doing (frank) all. |

What about Lidstrom? Salming turned out pretty good albeit he was only a Leaf because Ballard was in jail at the time.
Point still stands; have to start hitting some home runs at the draft. - Unholy_Goalie
Lidstrom wasn't a home run.
He was a dropped ball on a third strike, overthrow to 1st, overthrow to 3rd, batter scores.
If Detroit had any idea whatsoever of what he was to become, they wouldn't have waited until the 3rd round.
FFS, they took Mike Sillinger with their 1st pick. |

By that standard the Leafs should drop Mathews.

What's wrong with their 2015 draft? Our first round pick lead our team in scoring...and one of our 2nds is in our top 6 d. What's wrong with grubdstrom in 16?
And korshkov is what 21?
2 seasons ago we were 30th. Now we were 6th. So we lost to Boston in game 7. |

As per the last thread, not drafting Bure, Federov and Konstantinov had nothing to do with our scouts or GM.
Ballard hated the USSR.
He would never allow a Russkie to be drafted. - Atomic Wedgie
Good point. Only reason we got Salming was because Ballard was in jail at that time |

Not on the first pitch or the first swing or the first at bat but he was definitely a home run. They still had the brains to identify he was a talent worth picking that the Leafs (among many others) didn't. Drafting him was still necessary for their success later down the road. Point still stands, the Leafs need to start hitting some home runs that aren't 1st overall. |

You guys want TH Brodie. Loves playing the right side and does what someone said; skates great and can make a good outlet. Would free up Reilly to do his thang. |
