You don't have to be that smart to figure out both are really dumb ideas

Habs will offer Byron, Mccarron and the 35th pick for O'Reilly...

My biggest takeaway here is that Ek's needs the "go ahead" to post made up stuff. What's the point of hosting a fan fiction site if you need permission?

"I'm sorry Mr. Eklund, that is not absurd enough to post"... revisions ensure.. "Yes, that is now silly enough for your site. Proceed"

Sigh, but I do love hockey, so will keep coming back.

Whats with all the hate on Oreilly? He is in his prime at 27, an established 60 point guy, the best in the league on faceoffs, plays in all situations and probably is at least in the conversation for the best two way center. Hes going to get a better return than spare parts and a 2nd

Tank again and draft one... Don't overpay for used goods unless it's good enough to make a true impact

Habs won't trade the pick for multiple pieces, watering down the value.... A young impact C or draft Zadina

They will trade the pick because bergevin needs to ice a successful team next year or his job is gone. Hes on the hotseat so that will force his hand to make a stupid trade. The habs wont accept tanking, especially when they have Weber and price who are heading out of their prime and on long term contracts. A zadina or some other prospect wont be impactful for another 2-3 years

They will not trade the pick, unless that by some miracle they can grab Vilardi or Glass in the process...

And Zadina is not 2-3 years away from making an impact

zadina is considered great but not generational. He will probably make the nhl and post modest numbers but he wont be impactful out of the gate in his rookie year. Probably a decent 40 point season. It wont be 2-3 years until he really takes off

You base all that on absolutely nothing...

Did you think Barzal was gonna take off the way he did?

If they can surround him well and actually have a decent offensive C for him to play with, no telling how well he would do but if he's gonna be on a line with Danault and Byron all year, I say let him go back to junior and dominate

I heard him being compared to Ehlers with more offensive upside

Barzal is 20, was drafted 3 years ago and was sent back to junior twice and had tavares to play with. You just agreed with my point with him not being impactful in 2-3 years by saying zadina should be sent back to junior depending on his linemates. As of now habs dont have a good center for him to play with

Zadina is fine until Montreal drafts him. Once that happens, he will be a piece of poop.

Or he'll get traded for a much older, expensive, declining player

I didn't agree with anything you said... And him being sent back to junior instead of going down with this sinking ship has nothing to do with how well he would do, not one bit... Either way, the original point was, he's worth a lot more than O'Reilly... Let alone adding Galchenyuk, that's just a smelly mess

I'm just sitting here waiting for someone to tell me "but they played together on the PP" so I can point out that only 31% of Barzal's points came on the PP and he led all rookies in ES scoring also, with the next closest "rookie" (Gourde, who is approximately my dad's age) was 9 ES pts behind him.

Nah he's not as dynamic.

Great shot, pretty good skater, but he's more of a pure sniper than a dynamic offensive threat.

I am told his production will collapse once Tavares signs with the Leafs, Barzal won't have Tavares to feed him the puck on the goal line
