This fan is mainly shocked at the ineptitude of all 30 other GMs in allowing a team of all "rejects" or "castoffs" to be a Top 4 team in the entire league year 1......You'd have to think that Seattle will get the same Expansion Draft rules, right? Might be more likely to see Toews/Seabrook head to Seattle next summer...... - EnzoD
Or maybe transfer the Blackhawk franchise to Seattle and use the proceeds to purchase an expansion franchise for Chicago? |

Awesome, I hadn't heard the cap went up to 100 million. - kwolf68
Yeah they also managed to build a time machine that allowed them to go back and bring forward 2010 model Toews, Hossa, Keith and Seabrook |

Is that you JJ? - Beaver-Warrior
He's too busy trying to tell me we should trade for Craig Anderson and he will lead us to a cup and save us a whopping $1.8 mil in cap (nevermind the drop in quality from Crawford to Anderson) |

Jets playing tentative...look scared to be there. Looks like game 1 was a fluke. |

Trading Toews who still has marketable star value will further hurt ticket sales in Chicago and help them wherever he goes. Don't expect much back in a trade, maybe the rights to sign Wayne Gretzky's toy poodle as it's all in the capable hands of Curley Bowman whose trades have afflicted numerous brutal beatings on the poor Blackhawks while bestowing tremendous blessings on the other more astute gm's especially in Columbus. Where are Moe and Larry when you need them. - Savoy
I don't believe that Toews has any effect on ticket sales any longer. The true die-hard Hawk fans realize this and that the only thing that sells tickets is winning.
During his elite years, the NEW bandwagon youth fans bought his jersey because he was one of the best players on the team.....and they were competing for Cups. Now that's all changed, and he's had down years.
I don't know if he can be moved or not. I don't know if he really wants to play here anymore either. I still contend that he'd love to end his career in his hometown of Winnepeg. And.....if the Jets lose this series to VGK, who knows what could happen. I bet he'd be a heck of a lot more motivated to help win a CUP there than he is here. Winnepeg will have a lot of decisions this summer on FA's as well.
This game is not going well for the Jets.
Let's hope they can get back on track with their heavy forecheck and create some chances. GO JETS. |

Same here. I'd be shocked.
I still think people are bent out of shape too much about Toews. A guy who typically scored at about a 70 point pace has been scoring at a 60 point pace. He lacked some finish on his chances but they were there. In the last two seasons, when paired with an effective winger he was scoring at about a point per game. (Schmaltz/Kane)
A lot of the Hawks wingers (DeBrincat, Hinostroza, Saad, Duclair) had their most effective 5v5 play (Better Scoring Chance differentials and goal differentials) when lining up with Toews. That is while often lining up against the other teams better players.
Fix the D issues, get an actually effective 3C to play some shutdown minutes and put Toews with legit top 6 wingers and he will perform pretty much at his career average IMO. - breadbag
Yeah i don't see Toews going anywhere as well, and agree with a lot of this |

I’d take a bag of pucks for Toews right now just for the cap space. $10.5MM can patch a few big holes.
Guy is done. He has abandoned his game whether by choice, wear and tear, or both. You take what you can get for him. He’s not going to get anything but worse.
And learn the lesson - no more mega deals, which means don’t chase Karlsson or Tavares. Watch LV’s model. |

Just a couple random thoughts, is Toews happy here? What about Seabrook or Keith, are either of them burned out or just tire of playing in Chicago?
Would any of the above just like a change of scenery, somewhere different? - walleyeb1
First thought that comes to mind when I see them on the ice, starting with the 2016 playoffs. I see burnout. But, who really knows unless you interact with them personally? |

i loved the way Vegas played in the last 3-5 minutes. Aggressive. Relentless. Never giving ground easily. i don't care what the sport, when you play not to lose at the end of a game, you usually do. They played to win, and did. This team has given this season a breath of fresh air.
i hope Rocky is taking notes.

i agree they closed out the game great....but they got owned the first 15 minutes of the period and out shot like 16-4 and MAF stood on head again to get the win...they were playing to defend that 1 goal lead and MAF bailed them out...

P a draft to be peparing for? - AusHawk No!
I am just going to use draftsite.com.
You know that old history lesson: what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas.
No way another expansion team comes along and duplicates the story in Vegas. It is unique. Maybe a movie is made about it. Real life characters. |

Suggestion - don't bother reading Montreal bloggers. They think they have a God given right to win the Stanley Cup and don't recognize what a train wreck of a roster they really have in Montreal. The trade proposal is preposterous. Galchenyuk is a winger that knows how to play in the O zone and nothing more than that. And give up the 8th pick in the draft on top of that? - RickJ
I agree. I don't understand the fascination with this guy. He's had one (1) 30 goal season, he is supposedly a "natural" center but his career FO% is worse than AA's. Career CF% is almost identical to AA's.
I know, "potential", "ceiling". Haven't we had enough of those types of guys like Panik, Jurco, Duclair. |

I agree with MAF standing on his head, but imho Peg just suffocated LVGK. They are so quick to the puck and taking angles away to get out of the zone. I really liked how they just began accepting the fact they weren't going to be able to get a clean exit and just ate the puck and grinded along the boards to get the puck out. |
