Justin Lowe: IceHogs vs. Moose: Welcome to the Red Out
The "Red Out" for game #3 kicks off tonight at 7pm CST. Red Out doesn't sound near as good as "White Out" but it's great to see the Rockford fans really rally behind their team.
The AHL isn't the most glamorous to some people and it's not that easy to find a game on online to check out but I've always loved it and it's a heck of a league. It's great to see some Blackhawks fans and media getting behind their farm team's run right now.

The restructuring at Rockford will be looked back on as a critical point to turning around the decline at the NHL level.
And that is a very good thing. |
|
|
|
The Rockford area is certainly buzzing about this team. I have heard/seen a lot of commercials. Hockey has always had a pretty strong presence in Rockford. The local high school hockey club has won numerous state titles. The reaction around town is that Colliton is an exciting upcoming coach. He really seems to connect and has a knack for teaching the game. He very well might be the Hawks future coach, but probably needs a few more years in the AHL and or as an assistant in the NHL. I will not be at the game, but will be watching on TV (in the Rockford market all games are on TV). The arena is not huge, but games are always a good time and if you have kids they will love it. Go Hogs. |

I refuse to watch, because i know if i do, itll be the first game they lose. I don't think they'll go undefeated in the playoffs so once they lose one when I'm not watching, ill tune in. |

What's funny is that I live closer to Rockford than Chicago, but still get Chicago stations, and can't get anything from Rockford. Hopefully I can find a good stream online. |

The media market is strange in Northern Illinois. The Rockford area only has Rockford stations and a few Southern Wisconsin stations, but no Chicago stations. 20 miles to the south in DeKalb, they get Rockford and Chicago stations. |

I know...its obviously due to how huge the Chicagoland area is, and everyone in that area wanting Chicago broadcasts. But, it still doesn't keep us from complaining about it, especially when there is something that we want to watch on the Rockford broadcast (because you know it happens all of the time!) |

I guess it's nice for the folks in the Rockford area, but in the what have you done for me lately scenario, A. Team full of Matt Murtons here, other than Hayden and maybe a couple of others, most of those guys will wind up home in beer leagues after a couple of more seasons in Rockford. If this is the hype towards the parent club next year , and big time checks are gonna be due for season tix in the next 60 or so days, DiDomenico , Glass , ect?? , forget it..... As far as1901 is concerned.
Right now watching Micheal Kempney excell in the playoffs, a good sized D man that can hit, shoot and skate, and may win a Stanley cup? And before him Trevor Daley, How many more D men are they going to run out of here while watching garbage like Osterle, Ruutta and a couple of others get regular shifts.
This brain truss better be all A holes and elbows locked up in a room in the UC and figure a way to get this turned around this season. Bowman has to hit multi home runs this season on the draft, FA's and trades.
Look at the teams left, Winnipeg and Washington , whom I think wil be in the finals all are Big, play mean , strong on the puck and can skate unlike the little pansy ass team that Bowman put out there last year, enough of the undrafted FA's that weren't good enough to get picked in the first place, I want a couple of Tom Wilson's and and a couple of Big sized physical skating D man on this team come next year, not wasting a high first round pick on some Dwarf D man which I fear Bowman will do.
Bouchard or Trade up for Tkachuk or Bust for me!
Getting hyped for this Rockford stuff is like going to the Caddillac dealer and coming home with a Chevy instead for me. No interst because I see NADDA that will make an impact some say other than Hayden, maybe . Like I said Matt Murton all over again,
Lastly , Q also should be scrutinized on this D man stuff . I hope Kempney wins a cup. loved him when he was here, Bowman lied to him, Q stuck it in his moon.Ya think other FA's aren't taking note? |

Can't say that I am not angry at the Hawks brain truss for putting this garbage together and some what agree on the AHL and draft talk chatter in excess too, but if your guys lose , be man enough to show up here and take your lumps the day after. |

First of all, there are a number of prospects on the team that have some good potential and we don't know the ceiling. Guys like, Delia, Kampf, Johnson, Highmore, Forsling, etc. This is very good experience for them. Not all of them are going to make it to the NHL, but the few that do, this experience could contribute to their success in the NHL.
Second, it seems pretty obvious to me that the defensive system that the Hawks employ is hard to learn, and some guys just never get it. Just because they are traded away doesn't mean they are garbage. It could be seen that at times Kempney was having trouble with the system and knowing where he was supposed to be at times. Maybe he just wasn't getting it, and the Hawks brass decided to move on instead of trying to teach it to him over and over.
Its funny to question Bowman and Q and others that work in these front offices, when we don't know a tenth of what they do, or have all of the information that they do. It doesn't mean that they won't make mistakes, but I for one give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to hockey decisions. I just don't get how it is fun to constantly bash the front office and the decisions they make. To me, it is more fun to try to figure out why they are making such moves and be optimistic about the future. |

Guys, it's 'brain trust'.
Also, Michal Kempny isn't winning the cup this year, because the Lightning are the most stacked team since the 2013 Hawks.
Look at their lineup: https://www.dailyfaceoff....ghtning/line-combinations
They took the three best dmen from their series against NYR 3 years ago (Stralman, Girardi, McDonagh), and have loads of forward depth.
Capitals might still be missing Backstrom, and they won't be able to handle the onslaught of Tampa.
Kempny is also UFA after this, and he's going to want a lot more than $900,000. I'm glad we made the trade because he was absolutely walking after being benched most of his career here. 3rd round pick isn't an awful return. |

I agree with your Kempny comments. He is going to be looking for top 2-3 $ and he is a bottom 2 guy, Q aside.

I sure hope you are wrong about the lightning...I want the Jets to win the cup...
This way, people will stop trying to trade Toews to Winnipeg so that they can win a cup! |

Maybe I worded it wrong, regarding Michael Kempney, I was a big fan of his, he is not garbage he is one I would’ve kept, crap like Oesterle,Rutta , and a couple of others is who I meant. Same thing with Trevor Daley before,
The good thing is that in the what have you done for me lately business, Rocky and McDonough , I guarantee will pull the plug midseason if it is the same as last year. Especially now with them having plowed through that whole 15,000 season ticket waiting list and are calling back people that originally had dropped to see if they can get them for one more try. |

But for some reason a lot of us have doubts.

I have a blog coming out on exactly this!
I'm reviewing the teams that make the conference finals and breaking down roster, style and comparison to the Hawks/where the Hawks need to go.
