Can’t put sarcasm aside on an internet board - but I, for one, never looked for Jokiharju to be on UC ice this season anyways.
He’s going to be 19 in June - old enough for the A, I think - best place for his first jump into pro pucks. - StLBravesFan

That kid could be the real deal. Let him develop. This team aint goin anywhere for a while. With him and hopefully Noah Dobson coming our way at the draft, you have two good D in the pipeline coming up. - z1990z
Agree, let the prospects develop properly and, if anything, over marinate in the minors until truly ready. Going back to the prospects who Justin outlined in his blog, the first 4 have listed (Hayden, Forsling, Martinsen, Kampf) are closest to being ready and have the best shots at earning spots out of camp. Along with Kero and Highmore, Clendening and Johnson should be in the "break glass in emergency" situations. |

I think they have to be 18 by September 15. |

Jim Montgomery was just on Hockey Central at Noon, and they went over some of his 'key numbers for winning hockey' that he lives by.
One of them is '3 or less odd man rushes against in a game'.
Think of the Hawks this last year... whoops. I'd bet $1,000 that the Hawks averaged 5+ odd man rushes against a game this last year. And not even a slow-paced 3 on 2 that technically fits the bill. I mean a fully hung out to dry 1 defenseman sprawling on the ice while 2 or 3 forwards just victimize the team.
Ulf's system gives me nightmares. - ObeseOprah
LVGK are the only team in the playoffs, from the games I've watched have given up 1 in every 3 games maybe might be more than that but not much |

If a draftee wants to test the market and find a new team, then I think there needs to be a way to give that player the opportunity to do so but also fairly compensate the team that is losing said player. If there is no contract in place between a draft pick and the team that drafted him, then there's no issue of breach of contract. But I do find it odd that only the team that signs the player gets penalized but not the player himself. Don't have a solution, though, and I'm sure the PA is able to protect the rights of this and all players. - AEL_Fox
I believe once a player becomes eligible for the draft and are drafted, his rights belong to the franchise that drafted him, period. NHL league office is a joke

Sarcasm and past StanBo blunders aside, the fact that lead footed & never-NHL quality Ville Pokka beat out Henri Jokiharju for Team Finland means that expectations for Henri need to be significantly downgraded for 2018/19. Has anyone been watching the Worlds, specifically Team USA vs Germany game? I saw Kaner had 3 points in the 3-0 win over Deutschland....how did Dominik Kahun look? - EnzoD
Based on that logic Debrincat should suck, was he not passed over for the us juniors or something like that. |

That's the minimum time they ha have to be 18, say if they are coming from Europe or something. They have to be 20 years old or played 4 years in the CHL if coming from that league. |

Surely we could just trade him for a 6th rounder instead |

Stop drinking the Kool Aid, the Hawks would be lucky to get 'future considerations' even if they retained 50% of his cap hit. |

An excellent point. Based on everything I’ve read he projects as a Top 4 puck mover in the NHL. I’m expecting a Gus Forsling 16/17 type season from Jokiharju, but hopefully he exceeds my expectations. Either way, he’s probably not gunna come in and have an Ekblad or Werenski type rookie season. Even Seth Jones had growing pains in Nashville or they would’ve never moved him. It will mostly likely take several years for Forsling, Jokiharju, Dobson/Bouchard/Hughes to be reliable 20minute NHL Dmen. I still like John Moore as a potentially cost effective upgrade on D this summer. |

Henri's situation: https://www.stanleycupofc...-agreement-CBA-talks-2012
'Players drafted and playing for CHL teams are ineligible to play in the professional minor leagues (AHL, ECHL) until they are 20 years old (by December 31st of that year) or have completed four years in major juniors.'
but...
'European players further complicate The Agreement. If European players are drafted in the CHL draft before they're drafted by an NHL club, this rule applies to them. However, if they're drafted as a member of a European squad, and choose post-NHL-draft to play for a CHL team, they can, in fact, report to the NHL team's minor squads before the age limit kicks in.'
Henri was technically drafted out of Portland in the WHL, so I think he has to be returned there unless the Hawks opt to keep him for more than a 9 game trial. Bummer. |

To add to this... if Boqvist falls to us (please god let this happen), I believe he can report directly to AHL if he wants, or stay in the SHL for as long as he wants. The guy is a super fluid puck handler though, would immediately get taken under Keith's wing and have Q dancing in the Binny's aisles while grabbing his crotch. Someone please create a gif of that, thanks. |

When Daley was here, I remember a lot of people wanting him traded. Not saying you specifically, but most of the talk was about how he should be dealt. All Q did is not hand him minutes because he was struggling to keep up with the Hawks system. Should the coach just give in and let the player walk all over him? I remember Daley talking about how it was a change for him. He didn't wanna earn his playing time and I'm glad they moved him, but the return on the trade was kinda of awful. Sometimes players just don't fit with the team/system. - breadbag
My main point with Daley was the situation was handled so terribly that Q left Daley basically untradeable. He had scored 18 goals as a D-Man the year before and played very well after being traded but Q treated him as if he couldn’t even tie his skates. Also have never understood how upper management puts up with Bowman and Q being on different pages all the time.

Liked what i saw in Moore in the playoffs. Johnson would be a horrible signing. Honestly in the end to contend for a SC this is going to be longer than a one year process, imho right around the new cba, realistically
