Fair. They added a little cap hit and saved about the same amount in actual cash, too.

The cost to buy out Kruger would be $1,533,333 spread over two years vs paying him $2.3 million in one year. The Yotes may want to save that ~ $800K.

ive not read much on Kruger health - is he just too beat up to be effective in NHL anymore?
- glennjpawlak22

He was too beat up to even play in the AHL.

He took the demotion well, but 8 points in 19 AHL games isn't great for an established NHL level player, especially when Greg McKegg had 23 points in the same number of games.

Personally I think he's done. Legs just aren't there anymore.

Yeah but they traded away a guy with a lower cap hit to do it? I dunno. Seems weird.

I'm encouraged by Martinook. I don't think he brings much, but he's a big physical guy who skates well and kills penalties. Kruger wasn't really able to do any of that by the time game 30 came around.

Yeah....I really have no idea, I was grasping at straws. The deal doesn't make much sense at all. Good deal for your club though.

It seems like you're not a big Rask fan but I'd gladly take him off your hands for say....Anisimov?

I'd do it.

Let me put it this way.. I think Rask has decent ability, but has zero drive. The guy skates into the zone with the puck then lobs a 40 ft wrister on net. He's solid defensively and creates a lot of turnovers but he never really has the puck low around the net.

In 4 years in the league, he has attempted ONE wraparound. One.

No way...sign him for a big money long-term deal.
- DarthKane

Don't forget the NMC.

I wouldn't sign Jack Johnson for more than $3M per year, but he'll be looking for more to make up for all of the money that his parents stole from him.

Call me crazy but I still am liking the thought of trading Keith to Florida in something like they were talking about over their for Hoffman .Petrovic (big tough ) Heponiemi (small but big points WHL tough league ) and their 1st 15th this year For Keith . Now I know I know ,but makes some sense for Keith as his real money dwindles down over the next years Florida taxes would save him a bunch . Dale may do it as they are close down there . And the HAWKS get a interesting prospect .And 3 picks in the 1st this year . Some still have the HAWKS getting a chance at Boucard 8th Kotkaniemi 15th and Merkley 27th maybe .. And the rebuild is on ..And also this would certainly drive Q over the edge ,he would have a hissy fit and storm out and never come back .. GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Heponiemi.

Get to watch him live again tonight. You'd hate him though. He's a lot like TT used to be where he shies away from contact in the corners. He does somehow seem to come away with the puck damn near every time though.

One other thing about Heponiemi, you need to play him with guys that have good hand/eye or are highly skilled. He plays the puck in the air A LOT.

He's sneaky strong. Doesn't throw his body around but he easily shrugs guys off who are much bigger than he is.

I like the sound of that, but will never agree to losing the best defenseman in Blackhawks history. Duncan Keith retires a Blackhawk, #2 to the rafters.

And as a side question, BINGO: Your team has a big surplus of very good defensemen. To me it seems like Faulk is the odd man out. Is he or one of the other great D available? What might it take to get him?

Faulk is definitely on the block, especially with a Hanifin extension incoming.

Would think a legit C upgrade is what it would take, but adding Svechnikov changes everything. Might be willing to part with him for a couple of depth pieces instead... would need another RHD though.

What are your thoughts on TSN predicting that Faulk, Fleury, Darling, Skinner, Rask, and Lindholm are possible trade bait this summer? I personally would like to see Lindholm as a middle-6 forward. Then there's Darling who many Hawks fans would love back.

I can see Faulk and Rask going, and maybe Darling if anybody will take him on.

Trading Skinner or Lindholm seems like a bad idea.

It's so hard to say as I don't think anyone was prepared to be adding a player like Svechnikov for free, so it changes everything.

My best guess on the lineup next year, barring a big trade would be

Zykov-Aho-Teravainen
Skinner-Necas-Williams
Lindholm-Staal-Svechnikov
Martinook-Rask-McGinn

That said, I don't know if that lineup even hits the cap floor, so something big is going to have to happen.

Oh Keith will always be a HAWK , and players can go elsewhere and still go in the rafters ..Just a chance to benefit both parties (team &Keith ) Highly unlikely but creative no

If $Bill Wirtz can retire Bobby Hulls sweater after the meltdown those two had, anyone can be retired under Rocky.
