A trade for a Dman would be ideal but tough to do.

Sparks should backup Andersen for 25-30 games next year. Let's get the ball rolling on the future if Andersen can't get us over the hump

At the end of the day, I think Nylander was pretty underwhelming this season, and I'd look into trading him for a defenceman.

Scoring 27 points in 51 AHL games doesn't exactly make Alex Nylander untouchable. As for his brother, you'd be crazy to trade away a 60 point forward

Do you think Sparks the future though?

Note: I'm very high on Andersen delivering the goods. If he can be this good with our current D-core, imagine what he'd be with guys slotted into the right position.

At the very least let's reduce his workload.

I think Andersen is fine too. I'd like to see a better d-core and some more team defense. In some of the games against Boston the forwards weren't back supporting along the boards.

I would like to see the leafs trade for Roland McKeown. Only 22, right shot, and solid two way player. I don't know what it would cost to add him, as Carolina got him and a 1st for sekera. Could our 1st be enough? Maybe a 2nd and one of our defensive prospects not named liljegren? Carolina has a young group of defense they might be open to moving him.

I don't think they need to do a whole lot. We do need a 3c, of Babcock isn't ready to move nylander there. I would rather explore free agency than resign bozak. It was obvious how useless he was in the playoffs other than faceoffs. They also need to walk away from leo, Polak, Moore and JvR. Only one we will miss is JvR and his 36 goals, but he is too slow.

Our first needs to be on the table to add a defense for next year.

with new gm's and strong depth at defense, i think the wild and canes are more likely to make a move than the blues/jackets.

I'm on on the Wild bandwagon too! Spurgeon and Staal. No idea what it would take but a first rounder would definitely be the starting point.

He was better than fine, except when it really really counted in the third and he opened his legs wider than a $2 whore and let in 3 marshmallows

I would rather keep kapanen. I wouldn't want to move him before seeing a full season of him on the leafs and not playing on the 4th line. Especially if we walk from JvR, we are going to need kapanen to make up some of his offense.

If you were calling Chiarelli in Edmonton that's probably possible.
