In this year's regular season, the Bruins were the 7th most penalized team.
The Leafs were 28th. |

Right.
Leafs about to be on two man advantage for rest of the series. |

Even as a fan with no vested interest the reffing in this game was WWEish. The reffing was embarrassing to the league considering the Bruins interfer on pretty much every play to slow the Leafs down.
And even on the only Leafs PP the closest ref to the play was going to let the trip go. He only raised his arm after the far ref blew his whistle. |

*high time that injustice evens out* |

everyone keep your eye on that p.o.s Chara when the play is in front of the Bruin net, he cross checks, slashes, whacks etc and never gets a penalty.
also the head of NHL officials has to investigate that disgusting performance by both refs and even both linesmen.

Given they're not all of a sudden going for a team Lady Bing nomination, this tells me that it should be the Bruins with more penalty minutes this series, not the Leafs, by a large margin. |

Coming from a Nucks fan who burned down their owned city after their team pooped the bed against the Brooins this is rich. |

Because they went out of their way to stop the Leafs from destroying the Bruins last night. |

It made for a more difficult game than it had to be.
We've been fighting an uphill battle all series, "dealing with adversity" if you will, and not a lot has gone our way; the games in Toronto were low-penalty games (6PIM for BOS, 4PIM for TOR), the games in BOS have been travesties of officiating.
In short, the series outcome so far really does not reflect on how we've played as a team, and even less of how Boston has played, outside of their top line in the first 2 games. |

i honestly don't know how the league can look at this and say it is in any way legitimate.

I know how it is when your team is down in the playoffs. However In game 4 there was only 1 penalty and it was for the Leafs to go on the power play.Game 3 the leafs scored a goal on a very bad call against boston ( puck over glass)
The Kadri suspension was overboard i give that to the leafs 1 game would have been fair |

It's bad enough that they can't seem to decide how to call the game: playoffs mode, like in TO, with low PIMs in general, or pre-season mode, calling everything, including a boatload of faceoff violations, in BOS.
But when the refs decide to split the difference and call everything on one team, and nothing on the other?
I mean c'mon.
Get your poop together NHL.
For all the talk of growth in the league, I can't imagine being a new fan this last few years with the insane amount of pointless tweaking to "score moar goalz" and all it's doing is creating mayhem for the zebras who clearly have a tough job, and some who probably shouldn't be doing it. |

Penalty minutes
Philly 73, Pittsburgh 61
Tampa 98, Jersey 98
Colorado 58, Nashville 54
Columbus 59, Washington 42
Minnesota 60, Winnipeg 60
Los Angeles 26, Vegas 28
Anaheim 56, San Jose 30
Toronto 53, Boston 28
You look at Anaheim and San Jose, and you can believe that number.
You look at the Leafs and Boston and it stands out as completely ridiculous and it only gets worse if you watched the games. |

They made a bad call on the puck over the glass, but they also missed an offside in game 1 that gave them the go-ahead goal, and they also missed the broken stick on Nash, who actually should've been penalized for playing with his own broken stick.
Or Gardiner trying to pull Backes the instigator off of Hyman, who has no interest in fighting (classic Backes: always trying to go the non-fighters), and then gets a flying punch from Chara and a follow-up punch to the ribs after trying to explain what he was doing.
Nobody's going to complain about 2PIM to 0PIM: fans, coaches, players. It's playoff hockey, let them play 5v5: it's what we all wait for all year long. |
