Well anything can happen, but just the way things have unfolded this post season for the Wild, I find it doubtful they can overcome the situation they're in. It was going to be tough with Parise IN the line up but now that he's out, things looking pretty bleak.
People always saying next man up, and it's not like Parise is an elite player, but he IS one of those guys that you just can't replace. His skill, his motor and his compete level can't be matched by any depth the Wild might have.
So good luck tonight! Would love to see this series continue but Wild fans are starting to get used to one win post seasons! |

True that, but the Jets have the grit the Wild lack to make a deep run. Good luck fellas. Hope you kick the crap out of Nashville. |

"Fuelled by passion " , Fuelled by unbelievable fans " , "Fuelled by great coaching", Fuelled by leadership" ...take your pick or a combination of all of it and more.
Complete mismatch tonight. Kudos to the Jets fans for being that 7th player on the ice. I'm not sure if many of you saw my pre-game post on the previous thread but as much as some will never understand it , Hendricks had that bench so motivated that along with the fans it was fait-accompli inside of 13 minutes. Some of you will never understand unless you have either played the game or coached but there is a reason that the USA won in Lake Placid or Team Canada prevailed against a much better Russian team in 1972. It was leadership and passion that carried those teams. You can take all the Corsi stats and shove it up your A$$ . Leadership and passion will almost always prevail. Thats why certain guys work in the lineup despite some differences in talent. I've seen it so many times as a player and a coach.
I'll have more comments about individual play in the coming days ( Myers / Trouba combo was awesome) but lets just celebrate the moment for the Jets, for Wpg and its passionate fan base, and for Canada ( because there is no way the Leafs are going anywhere but the golf course )with that lineup).
Onto Nashville ( highly likely ) . Next best fanbase to Jets. No two better teams in the league with an honourable mention to Tampa. No two better fans . Too bad they have to face each other so soon. NHL please pay attention and adjust !

Thanks for all the nice thoughts from all the other team's fans. For many Winnipeggers this was huge deal given the history.

Starting by saying how dominated Minny got this series...I know they won one, but still. Winnipeg/Atlanta just too good and deep.
As for the Canada’s Team, it’s strange to me. Team Canada is Canada’s Team. Not the Leafs nor the Habs, or the other Canadian franchises are ‘Canada’s Team’
As a Canadian, if I’d truly want ‘the Cup back in Canada’, I would cheer for the team with the most Canadians on the roster and NOT just a franchise owned by a billionaire, that happens to play in Canada. The Cup travels with players throughout the offseason, so technically, it would be IN Canada more that way.
During the season it’s in Toronto, so it stays in Canada. |

If the Jets happen to be the only Canadian team left playing this spring, in my books, they are Canada's team. Support them if you wish, no problem if you don't.
But the NHL teams nowadays are comprised of the best talent that a GM and scouting staff can get their hands on, where ever these players come from.
If you look at Wpg's roster, there are 11 active US players, 4 from Minnesota, 4 from Michigan, 1 from Texas, 1 from Ohio and 1 from Missouri. Add in a couple Finns, a Dane, an Austrian, a Ruskie and a Swede and 11 Canucks (Michael Hutchinson makes 11) and you get the Jets. Maybe the team should be USA North if you apply one poster's analogy.
Can you imagine what the feeling is for these Minnesotan players to play against your home State, just an hour north and win in the fashion that they did? It must be a powerful feeling I would think.
The fact is that the Jets scouts did a good job of scouting the Northern US for talent, which we know is a breeding ground and hotbed of hockey.
I don't care where these players come from, they have bought into the system, work hard, appear to be tight as a group and are winning!

Nice sentiment but the Jets are more an advertising slogan dreamt up by t shirt makers and Toronto businessmen.
They are genuine.

I agree Charlie...but I'll add a few comments.
Its not necessarily about where the players are from , or where the management is from. In my eyes and I think most Canadian's eyes, they are cheering for the city and its people. Its a sense of community. As Canadians we like to see success within our boundaries and for the people that live in our towns and cities.
If the Leafs were the only ones left I would absolutely cheer for them because I want to see good things happen for that community. There are other factors involved of course such as the fact they have not won a cup in 50 years which brings extra sentiment into it. Canadians also watch their own teams a lot on TV so familiarization plays a role as well. Winnipeg is also the smallest hockey town in the NHL. Its nice to favour the small town underdog who has only dreamed of but never come close to a Stanley Cup final.
You can be assured that if the Leafs lose then the Jets are absolutely Canada's team if for no other reason than we cheer and support our communities and its people. Humboldt is a good recent example of overwhelming support for a hockey community although unfortunately for different reasons. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This team. This fanbase. This city. All that matters. Other fans can feel free to jump on the bandwagon but at the end of the day we are not Canada's team
We are Winnipeg |

It's an absolute shame that the Jets play the Preds round two. They should be the cup final. Final 4 very least. Someone is going to be hugely dissapointed with a second round exit. |
