It was nice seeing the Avs in the playoffs for a change and I hope they can regroup and get better and healthy and be a lot more competitive next season.

How was that not a distinct kicking motion? The NHL never ceases to amaze me with their a** backwards calls.

Guess that woke the Avs up a bit! Good on them, hope this one goes to game 7 Overtime. This series and WSH/CBJ have been pretty entertaining.

It's still weird to me that the Avs outlasted all the other lower berths out west.

you can't beat a 3rd string goalie

Lets look at your best effort in this series against the Avs 3rd string...legit the if (or realistically when) the preds advance, they are going to get bounced so hard by the Jets

They have the Avs speed that is being an issue for the Preds this series, but they are also big, mean and physically and well as deep offensively. Honestly if the Preds want to survive this playoffs. Saros over Rinne is the first move you have to do

Nathan Mckinnons ability to hold onto that puck on that goal, with that poise..... Oh my god. That was jaw dropping.

Give that man the freakin Hart trophy already.

I feel like Nashville looked a lot different in this game than game 4. I'm happy the Avs won, but the Preds were not the team I expected to see tonight. Gotta bring it game 6 Sunday! Really want to have a game 7 as this series has been the best so far (biased but w/e)

Here's the thing about, "luck"...

A few years ago, when the Avs "got lucky" and won the West under Roy, the Avs were "unlucky" enough to face a Wild team in the first round that just "had our number" that season.

A goal here or there in that Minnesota series and IF the Avs had advanced THEY were better than both Chicago and L.A. and if you squint really hard, it's possible to envision an Avs/Devils Stanley Cup where the Avs were clearly the better team (imagine how THAT would have changed things...)

Anyways... The point being, "blind luck" sometimes DOES take the form of a hot, unknown goalie. Sometimes it DOES take the form of an team that plays miles above their "ability" like the first year under Roy. Sometimes it DOES take the form of meeting a team in the first round that just "has your number".

The Avs probably aren't going to win the Cup this year. All things being equal, the Avs probably won't even get past the next game.

But GIVEN the situation and GIVEN the "odds", I don't have any problem putting my faith in a little "blind luck" at this point. It might not last past the first shift of the next game and then again, it might make for one of those memorable first-round upsets that makes the NHL playoffs so great (and wouldn't THAT be just precious

Both teams looked extremely deflated last night, but I don't think that'll be the case Sunday.
