I would say that the Preds need to be disciplined...but they really don't even try anymore. Just don't get stupid with the retaliations and put them away.

Paul, you've got to let it go man. The hit on Johansen was kinda rough, but he was falling down. It wasn't a head-hunting expedition. I had a much bigger problem on the no-call when Hartman got speared twice. They have to take control of those guys using their sticks in a harmful way. Most people I know would rather take a cross-check to the head or neck before taking a stick to the nuts.

I don't really feel like one team or the other has taken an unfair share of the nasty hits and gritty play. It seems to have gone both ways a bit.

This is a game where the D needs to get in on the scoring. They have made some great plays and assisted some quality goals this series, but haven't been in on the primary scoring.

Oh, and welcome back to the playoffs Scott Hartnell. Let's hope he doesn't take any bad penalties tonight trying to keep up with the speedsters on the Avs.

To be fair, it’s hard to take the homer out of Paul. He is the voice at the arena for (frank)s sake.

I agree. Looked bad but the replay showed RyJo was going down.

I was actually more upset at the Captains shot at Eckholm. Late and way over the top.

Well, we got our answer about killer instinct. No one on the team had any... except for Subban, who killed his own team twice in the final 5 minutes.

To many big heads in that locker room, they need to be taken down an inch or two. MAYBE JUST MAYBE THIS WILL WAKE THEM UP. If you recall I all year we heard from players "We know we can beat anyone".. my response get off your asses and DO IT... Lavy is too calm in public he needs to show from fire.... This is a hell of a team but they are playing entitled

This is what I would love to see... Lavy let a pissed off fan or Fans in that locker room and let them yell at the team.... they need it..
Or maybe the avs are good and I'm not giving them any credit....

In a seven game series, the team that wins game five, goes on to win the series 80% of the time.

Not looking good for the preds.

Where's Paul? ....or do you mean Waldo?? His babbling only comes out if the Preds win! He rarely posts after a loss....probably too busy crying and trying to rationalize how this team did not win....impossible for them to lose on their own merit. Must be bad officiating, cheap hits or just plain luck that any team can beat the Preds. Also note, he works for them, so you are very unlikely to get any insight that is meaningful! Again, it's too bad, because the Preds are a fantastic team and fun to watch, it's just too bad Paul and the organization are blind to reality! And for Preds not to have these games sold out in advance is just plain embarrassing.....Pred Nation.....yeah right.

This has been the best first round series as both teams are playing well....the Avs speed is causing issues and the Preds better stay out of the box or tonight's result will mirror game 4! Then what will Paul do????

To say it's not looking good for the Preds is meaningless. They still lead the series 3-2 and will hold home-ice advantage no matter what happens today. If the Preds play their game and play to their abilities, then the Preds probably win. Pretty simple.

However, even if yours were an accurate stat (which I doubt), it's meaningless. The games get played for a reason. Playoffs are brutal, as intended. Win or lose, the hockey being played is still pretty awesome.

By the way, just to keep everything above board, how about furnishing a link and a source for that "stat"? It sounds bogus to me and I'd like to see it and analyze the credibility of whoever put it out there.

Paul doesn't comment anymore on responses to his blog. As an employee of the Preds you also won't get team rumors, lineups, or ........

Usually I don't bite when trolls post but your continuing dishonest crap statements need to be refuted. Preds have sold out 100+ home games in a row and season tickets for 18/19 have been sold out for months. There is a waiting list that prospective season ticket holders have to pay to be on. As for the playoffs, every game is completely sold out plus they have been over capacity for every game.

Get your facts straight or get lost.

Key part missing from this winner of game5 stat is; when a seven game series is tied 2-2....

The broadcaster apparently left out a relevant and key part of the equation so it doesn't apply to our series. (See the other poster's reply to your comment.) Besides, NHL game broadcasters and play-by-play commentators make LOTS of on-air mistakes, so take what they say with a grain of salt or two.

But as I said before, "so what?" Even if it did apply to the Preds current situation, all that matters is who wins the series. Why spin negative on something so immaterial as an obscure stat such as that?

Oh, and by the way, when a team is down 1 game to 3 (as the Avs were prior to Friday's game-5 here) and when that team that's down 1 to 3 wins game-5 on the road (as the Avs did here Friday night) they go on to win the 7-game series a whopping 22.1% of the time. That's just a little bit different than your 80% figure.

22.1%

Look it up.
