Terrible call, but Philly is so bad...Gudas is atrocious, basically has 2 assists (to Pittsburgh) in this game. Povorov also made a horrible blunder too.

Philly fan is gonna Philly.

Yea the refs sucked BIG TIME, but your team got beat. Terrible puck management. Turnovers galore, bad defense, not enough depth, just not good enough. Make excuses all you want. Gonna take a bigger and badder team to beat Penguins

Philly couldn't hold that 2 goal lead, especially after coming back from 2 goals down. They played like they were beat up AND out of gas. I was actually more impressed with them that Pitt. Pitt's just too damn deep.

As soon as they got that lead, Pittsburgh came storming back, almost immediately. Penguins forward lines are incredible. They can be beaten because their Defense is merely average, but they are loaded. At least the pretender teams (New Jersey, Philadelphia, Anaheim. I think Toronto is also a pretender) are out now. Beating Wash/CBJ then Boston/TB will be a very tough road for Pittsburgh, then they'll be looking at any number of good teams from the West (Peg, Musturd Slugs, Knights).

Justin here are couple questions:
Any idea what defense manthe would be looking at in free agency or through trades any been metion that maybe heard being discussed?

Say hawks pick 7th and walhstom boqvist hughes tkachuck hawks go with offense or defense who would you pick?

- Scott1977

Everyone close to or knowing anyone, says that Bowman will draft defense and hope someone can step up. Hmmm...with Q around.....if defense stipl bad does Stan can both Samuelson and Q, or just Q...eventually after team struggles. A new year present aftet the holidays? I guess we stay tuned.

In addition, I'd be curious to hear more about a couple guys who haven't been talked about much lately. Raddysh? Fortin?
- breadbag

Well rookie Rayddsh playing ovet Finnish sign Tuulola. I think Collitonngoing with AHL experienced guys on defense. Probably orders to play Chicago reinforcements ....i wonder how Edgsell looks. His TOI. Collitonncould sit him and play bruising style Knott. Lots of shots period one today 16/15 2-2 score Delia in net
UPDATE As i typed Rockford scored on PP Highmore Edgsell one of the assists, Luis the other. Big and small size guys get the assists.

Their style match mix well together?
- jhawk59

I think they could be really good together if Jokiharju is ready. Both possess elite (or potentially elite) skating styles.

As much as Bowman claims he's coming back with pretty much the same team, it would be silly to think that.

I've heard a shutdown/top 4 "minute muncher" is the priority, then let the rest of the D battle in preseason + see if Jokiharju is ready for primetime. That will be a big decider on how they approach the offseason. This is why Jokiharju is at the WC. They want to see him against top talent.

Then maybe some more grit and speed up front but overall they are relatively happy withtheir forwards.

Finally, as mentioned a few pages back, they are evaluating their backup goalie position.

I really hope Avs push this to seven games, honestly I'm hoping Poile gets burned for not having the balls to go all in.

What about a rookie playing with a veteran who likes to roam? If they want to try them together, either lots of practices or games together. But should there be penalties or injuries, using the rookie exclusively with Keith then throwing him to the wolves if Keith is MIA, that's rough. Playing them together also neither is out of their way physical, although Keith can do it just not all the time and stay healthy. You noticed Rutta and Forsling together had potential at first. But Forsling needs to figure out the NHL and get further pro experience, reports claim. So compare Forsling to Jokiharju coming in like this. Although it does help playing World Tournament now + summer July camp.

I responded to someone not long ago claiming Poile had not gone all in. Perhaps you have a point - somewhat - if you are looking at major upgrades, additions. But if you look at their secondary scoring, role players i say they look fairly good. They have Watson, for example, a big physical player who prepped in the AHL. But one thing true about the playoffs for everyone: it is a marathon. Some say you need to be 9-10 deep on defense. Often players continue round to round with injuries they play through.

That was one of the most obvious and flagrant trips you will ever see the ref decided instead of calling it, he could bear putting letang back in the box after phylly had a 5-3...

no goal 5-4 and phylly on the pp...you don't think that brutal non call impacted the game...all i can continue to say is the nhl refs are the worst in professional sports...

Ok thanks just throwing things out there to see what direction hawks are going in and what possible moves in offseason they will persue. Agree need a vet backup goalie that play 25 to 30 games and have winning record plus top 4 experience d man like a younger hammer are the
The 2 top priorities this offseason still need more size and speed on the wings and a center that win faceoffs at 50% or better to take the pressure of of toews.
