Justin Lowe: Fast Friday: Rockford IceHogs Playoff Edition Well, at least we get to check out a little bit of Hawks related playoff hockey via the Rockford IceHogs. They kick off their series against the big, bad Wolves tomorrow night.

Let's take a look at some key information heading into this series - Rockford vs. Wolves preview – 5 things you need to know.

JL - Any news on Hayden's health? I haven't read anything and I don't believe he dressed the last game of the year.

With the PK and PP ranking obviously some good hockey was being played 5 on 5. Also I am assuming the numbers got better for the PK and PP during the nice play-off run at the end of the season. Colliton does a great job teaching and spreading ice-time. This is why you can’t just look at the stats of Rockford players and make a judgment as there is much more going on than just stats. It is why as fans we are often pleasantly surprised when a player is called up that doesn’t have dazzling stats at Rockford but seems to have of lots of talent when he dresses for the Hawks.

Hey Chunk - they're hoping he plays but he's still 50/50 as far as I'm hearing.

We should know more today.

He would be a huge help and a key contributor to an upset of the Wolves.

Correct. It's always really difficult with so many key players going back and forth to the parent club as well as using special teams as a bit of "learning lesson" for guys that have potential to succeed in those roles.

Also, one thing to note is that the Indy Fuel were ousted from the ECHL playoffs last night.

Looks like maybe just Nathan Noel will be recalled because Press and Iacopelli are injured, it appears.

Can Sikura get some ice time in the Playoffs or is it too late?

Groovy. I'm hoping he can play some top line and special teams minutes in this series. I have this suspicion that the Hawks really would like him to make a big leap in terms of offense so that he could be more of a top 9 guy with the big club.

Too late I believe, but they can get some meaningful minutes from Forsling, Hayden (injury), Kampf, Highmore, Martinsen, Edjsell, Dahlstrom, and I think maybe Jurco Gustafson and Hinostroza.

Jurco, Gus, and Hino aren't eligible i believe. Maybe Gus, but the other two i don't think so.

Gus wouldn't go back down; it is his prerogative..He established himself with his time here in Chicago irregardless whether you approve of his performance.

Justin, Great blog. I think you really touched on something important in #5. He could be huge to the future of the team in the NHL. His influence is important in getting players ready for the big time but also he could be the next Head Coach if Q does eventually get the hook.

Is that true, though? Yes he can refuse assignment, but aren't there repercussions to the player like suspension? Not that a suspension does anything right now given the Hawks are no longer playing until October.

I would think Gustafsson would want to play more, especially in the playoffs. Also, is he that arrogant to think he's too good now for the AHL? Sorry Erik, but you're not a sure-fire NHLer still (or ever). Learning to play defense in a pressure atmosphere would do you some good.

Or does his contract preclude him from going back down?

Thanks. I'll check it out.

It's really funny talking to some Ducks fans out here. Several said that they wish they had terribly missed the playoffs so the whole thing could be blown up.

"Perry is like Toews with a slightly better contract"
"Getzlaf makes as many mistakes as good plays"
"Should have found a way to keep Theodore"

I told them to be careful what you wish for. We wildly missed the playoffs and (thus far) are keeping everything the exact same. I'm cautiously optimistic that Stan has a number of moves ready to go to reshape the roster, but I will believe it when I see it.

There was an article on the TSN website yesterday about the Ducks being open to "blowing up" their core and listening to offers to move one of them, i.e. Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler in particular. Would you want any of them if Bowman could put together an appropriate package to send to Anaheim?

Me personally: yes to Getzlaf, no to Perry, and possibly to Kesler.

Yeah, I'm leaning no towards him, too. While I like his ruggedness and physicality, he is wearing down fast. He's a turd like Perry, but if I had to choose between the two, I'd take Kesler.

Getzlaz for sure but next are the hawks going for another cup or rebuilding for the future thats the question? If hawks aquire say getzalf there going for another cup. Personally continue with rebuilding for the future to many holes getzalf would fill maybe one or two of those holes.

If this was three years ago, I'd say Perry all day. I think he would be the perfect RW for Toews. Right now, I don't want any of those guys. Technically, Getzlaf fills a number of holes (big center that can win F/O's and score points), but I don't see him producing like he has for much longer.

Perry and Kessler seem to be breaking down a bit as well. I get to watch them a lot, and I'm not a really big fan of how either are performing at this stage of their careers.

If we are trading with ANA, I'm targeting Henrique or Rackell.

I believe he is playing more, at the World Championship. I have seen a couple place confirm that he's heading there.

Torts said that Panarin and mates laid an egg last game.
How could this be so. I read how great he is on this board. The same people blush how surreal the Panarin experience. What is going on here with Bread Man? Is he superman or is he a flash in the pan who got to play with Kane. I say awaken his confidance by using goalie #33 in practice time

The AHL site has reportedly been fraught with technical problems in its transmission. You can try it from a local city who has a comcast. Chicago Wolves broadcast all games but no radio. Billy Gardner is long time color and the announcer is ok. That broadcast would likely be superior to individual other teams. Someone who has Wolves games capacity on their cable can provide more. Icehogs have an antenna wire cable feed which is i think barbaric.
