When watching the Leafs, all I could think of is how they could use Mcdoangh.

Good blog Jan.

Completely disagree on the Staal check to the neck. Probably the 1st time I agree with the DOP.

Point of contact was the head. Regardless of intention, it was dirty. More egregious was all the referees missing it on the ice.

I think Staal really milked it if we are being honest

Nah. Intention plays a huge part in it being "dirty". It would be like saying someone skating by a player and accidentally highsticking another player in the head should get the same as McSorely swinging his stick at Brashear's head. Or Staal should have got 10 games for accidentally hitting Crosby in the neck.

Agreed there should have been a major on the play, but thats about it, and all the refs missing it was more an indictment of the reffing

Really?!?! Care to let me cross-check you in the neck and see if milking it comes to mind in the minutes that follow?

I agree Jan, that it was ridiculous that no one made that call. I think part of that, in regard to the linesmen, is that they can only make that call if they are saying it's 5 and a game. Not many guys are going to step up and change the complexion of a playoff game to that degree unless someone is in serious distress on the ice.

No he didn't. They were on the PK and he was trying to box Staal out from getting to the net and going for the shoulder. He was looking back and forth between the guy on the point with the puck and Staal.

Morrissey is looking right at Staal. Unless the gravitational forces on earth change and pulled Morrisey's stick upward, he did it on purpose.

Wrong.

Curious was M Staal's cross check to the back of Crosby's neck intentional? Don't remember you saying that.

So Morrissey isn't looking at him? The Eyes on the front of his face are looking where?

He's looking back and forth and you stop it for one second during a game, to show he looked at Staal. I already said he was looking back and forth at both of them. If you think its intentional, so be it. Not going to change my mind

No!!!! He looked at him right before he moved his arms towards him then looked at the puck. .

Its a penalty b/c of result, but he misjudged where Staal was and he accidentaly crossed checked him high.

Not dirty, but a penalty, not a suspension.

Yeah, I got the impression that when Staal's stick came up, Morrissey thought his arm was also going to come up to fight Morrissey for space. When it didn't, his stick had nothing to stop it from contacting the head. The optics of it are REALLY bad, but I don't doubt that it was not what it was supposed to be from Morrissey's end.
