Theyre fine. Both of them. Relax.

The level of bad "juju" surrounding this team nightly meant that the goalies knew before hand that the defense would be a calamity, the forwards wouldn't score even if they had a 5 on 3. That kind of pressure over 80 games is fatiguing.

Sign the people that need signing.
Draft the people that need drafting.
Call up the kids.
Find a system that works (hybrid of two years ago) whatever.....

The goalies aren't a problem.

Anderson will be 37 to start next season and goalies don't get better with age.

Mike Condon couldn't really get the job done in Montreal and didn't this year for the Senators. He's probably OK but I wouldn't count on him to be more then a backup.

You have to be concerned by this but the Sens will likely have to ride it out for a couple of years unless they can make a trade.

Keep in mind that the whole team had a terrible year and the D really left the goalies out to dry most games.

I'm not worried about our goalie situation just yet. Plus we just traded for Philip Guvtavsson who is apparently looking quite good.

I am becoming more comfortable with the idea of a full rebuild over the next few years. Clearly, this means embracing the idea of positive options in trading Karlsson. It is a bitter sweet choice. On the one hand, it would be painful to see one of the most entertaining and likeable players in the NHL leave. On the other, the return would be substantial and young.

If the Sens could add a second top 5 pick plus a top young player (prospect) you would need to pay attention. If the Sens do a deal for Karlsson it will certainly involve more than two teams.

Several teams (Islanders, Rangers and Oilers, most notably) have the pieces and incentive to make the kind of deal that could be highly attractive to the Sens.

The dark horse has to be the Islanders. What would they pay, if the cost of getting Tavares to resign is trading for the elusive Dman they desperately need?

I disagree with those teams giving up the assets for Karlsson. They are all in the same spot as Ottawa. The team most likely to acquire him is Vegas. It almost happened at the deadline. They will revisit it at he draft, where it will happen. They have the assets and the money, he would bring a legit star to their team and instantly make them a contender. With the sweep of the Kings, they just let the hockey world know they are close. The good news is that Ottawa would rarely face him and they'd shorten their rebuild by 2 years.

Vegas might be one of the few teams that can do a deal without reference to a third team to be able to make it happen. Still think there is greater pressure on teams like Islanders and Oilers to put somebody on their back end that helps them win now.

Personally, I think they are in a lot of trouble, and that is the biggest spot of concern and one of the reasons why the Senators window for winning won't be open for a while, and it may also have a trickle-down effect when trying to get signatures on long-term contracts for the likes of Erik Karlsson, Mark Stone and Matt Duchene.

They are a contender. I've said this before, I think they need to stand pat this off season. You have a team of castaways playing their best hockey, what better way to ruin their mojo than to bring in a high profile guy like Karlsson or Tavares and hand them a blank check and all the ice time. If they fall flat next year then make some moves.

Blaming the goaltenders is a pretty cheap way to lay blame for the problems this team had over the course of the year. I'm not saying that Anderson and Condon couldn't have played better, but just look at the car crash of a blue line that was in place... not to mention the disruption in team chemistry, and losing 3 alternate captains over the course of the same year. Seriously, let he on the team who is without blame cast the first stone before calling out the goaltending as the #1 or even #1a root cause.

The top issues with the team this past year:
1A Poor goaltending
1B Poor team defense / defensive zone coverage
2 Weak special teams
3 Lack of offensive depth / top end scoring talent
4 Team chemistry issues

Goaltending was a big strength last year and covered up for spotty defensive coverage and a high number of shots against. This year, there were frequent bad goals which deflated the team. It is the biggest change year over year.

There was also a huge drop in Karlsson's performance year over year, especially for the first few months. Much of that is related to recovery from injury. I also had the impression that the failure to re-sign Turris played a role - Karlsson put his own health on the line blocking shots to give the team the best chance to win but the team is seen to not be willing to step up when re-signing core players.

Issues 1B, 2 and 3 have been present both years. Last year the team found a way to win most of the close games.

You paid the Avs a 3rd round pick to take Hammond of your hands and he won my boys a playoff game

You guys might be one of the dumbest most cursed franchises in the league
