So none of the fact he had the best team was on him?
ffs he should of tanked during the season and finished 8th so he could prove himself
And 2 gold medals is two gold medals, he could not of done any better than he did. So wrong there
playoffs for 10 straight years is 10 straight years
a cup ring and three final appearances is amongst top coaches in the past 10-15 years
Top 10 in points percentage all time coaches
You can't argue with facts no matter how much you try and downplay them
Yes, it isn't on Babcock that his teams had: Carey Price, Brodeur, Doughty, Weber, Crosby, Iginla on them for the Olympics. That's on the GM who brought them to him. Babcock got lucky enough to coach them.
Yes it isn't on him that he had Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom all in their prime or just finishing their prime. |

I approve of this message;
Also, I hope Marchand slips and falls outside the ACC and can't play tonight. |

Quennville-Kane, Teows, Kieth, Crawford. Lucky
Sutter-Kopitar, Quick, Doughty. Lucky
Sorry man but the coach matters, as do the players. It is just being plain ignorant saying these coaches won just because of the players they coached. As it would be ignorant of me to say the players only won because of the coach.
Again you cant argue with facts |

Exactly. Sutter got lucky.
Fact: If Quennville was so good then why did the blackhawks miss the playoffs this year? He couldn't coach essentially all those same players to a wild card? |

Agreed. Except the Olympic golds. When you have a team as stacked as Canada has before, the coach really didn't matter. Otherwise, you have a point, it takes a good coach with good players to win. But if you have a Tony the Tiger effin GRRRREEEAT team, a valuable coach is less necessary as well as less impactful. |

Whatever dude, it seems like you are just arguing for the sake of arguing
I hope so anyways, any intelligent human being can realize that every part of the team helps a team win.
So if you can't realize that well then good luck |

That may be due to not having Corey Crawford for more than half the season |

Then might as well take Crosbys gold away from him
He played on a stacked team, his gold is worthless |

Uh not sure if you remember the futility that Canada went through in all the previous years leading up to the gold medal they got. Coach totally matters regardless of what hockeyboard experts think
Look how dominant the team was last time the NHL players went. They were awesome and very structured.

So a couple buzz experts disagree with babs' lineup decision and all of a sudden coaches are overrated?

Wait
so who is responsible for how a team plays? The players?
well if so why didn't the players make the playoffs if they were essentially the same team? lol you are talking yourself into circles. |

But Santos said it had nothing to do with the players...that the coach was more important to their success.
My argument was babcock had quality teams in front of him which makes his job as coach easier. Santos said that I'm wrong and it doesn't. So he can't argue that because of injury the coach couldn't still be great....It's a little confusing. |

An interesting aside to those that use the Olympic success against Babcock, it is safe to assume Team Canada brass is vastly more knowledge on the subject on hand then us sideline observers.
Team Canada had ample choice from literally all the best coaches in the world and chose Babcock, to much success. |

Did I say take it away? If Crosby wasn't at the Olympics but replaced with the next best player available that didn't make it, I'd wager they'd still win.
I would say the exact same thing about the coach. Are you telling me Babcocks Olympic squad would have lost if he wasn't the coach? |

Well they don't literally have choice of all the best coaches...they have the best from Canada. That isn't literally "all the best coaches in the world". |
