This is true but the problem is they could do nothing about it. There needs to be some protections so something slimy cannot happen. Wang was on the way out in two years and should not have been allowed to hurt the team with a lousy contract.
- ses111

But we don't know that it's a lousy contract. The year before they took over the team went to the 2nd round. The first year as majority owners, the team failed to make the playoffs. Maybe Snow convinced them it was an anomaly. Who knows. We all know and see the damage that Snow has done. We all agree that Snow must go. I just hope that L&M do the right thing.

The NHL also allowed someone without money to but the Isles. Bettman and co are not exactly on top of things.
- ses111

I know you are joking, but that wasn't the NHL's fault. It was the owner's responsibility to vet the buyer. Besides Spano was one of the better owners we've had.

!00% Jimmy.

The NHL is a franchise and approves all sales and also their conditions.

Again the rumors that surround this team is a Phucking joke! I have to add that the secrecy and closed inner circle and limited press approval is to blame for a hell of a lot of the BS that follows this team!

- nyisles7

Rumors are all we have. Since the press is hand-picked and essentially are handed a list of softball, pre-approved questions, we get no answers(hell, we don't even get questions asked).

L&M do not seem to be hockey experts but this doe snot see to be a Dolan situation who got all his money from daddy. Let's hope we get a new GM soon so we can focus on the team and not theories about the GM.

While true, some people are very good at cooking the books and making them look outstanding. If you're not looking very closely, you won't find out.

NHL made changes so they know they screwed up as well. If only Spano fired MM before this all went down. He really would have been a hero.

I'll believe he's fired when I see it. If they are indeed planning on canning his ass, then why not just do it? Because of JT? Legal terms of Snows contract? None of know what the terms of his contract are. How it wasn't disclosed is beyond me as everything nowadays is about transparency.
- Isleshockeyman

Fired or neutered, I could care less. Right now with out a replacement I think they are holding on to Snow to have some normalcy in the regime and I think it just might be for JT's sake.
If your JT and they just fired the GM and Brisson calls Malkin and says ok Scott Snows gone can you tell us who's taking the reins now.

Well we have 3 or 4 candidates but they are tied up with their current teams in the POs so we don't have a deal in place for anyone yet but we will. Trust me

Oh ok Scott, so John's gonna sign a contract without knowing who the GM is and what his course is and plans for the team are moving forward? Call me when you have you shat together because we aren't dealing with hopes and finger crossing, Click.

We have to hope Tampa finishes off the Devils. I'm not sure what the Leafs are doing but they need to be eliminated as well

They made those changes to protect the NHL brand. They still look bad for letting the team be sold to a huckster. It's the owners responsibility to vet. What dumbass sells a team for $165 mil without guaranteeing he's going to get the money?

I think it looks bad if Snow is anywhere near the organization. They need to send a message and show him the door.

I 100% agree Jimmy however if they were to "promote" Snow to the broom closet and he doesn't have a thing to do with hockey decisions I am all for it as well.

My only problem with this scenario is, who with a real resume and winning track record would come here and work under snow?

I think the only one is maybe Lou. I know it's hard to believe however he did give Chris a job and Lou does like Garth ( what I have heard ) Probably and only because he did give the job to Chris?

So what the hell's the difference? If the behind-the-scenes consensus is that Snow is gone, he wouldn't sign a contract anyway, not knowing who's coming in. JT isn't going to sign in the next 2 months anyway. He tells Brisson "yes, we have 3 or 4 candidates we'll be interviewing once their playoffs are done. That's the key. They're in the playoffs! We're looking at getting someone who can get us in the playoffs every year. Make this team competitive, an actual contender. Change the culture. I don't expect JT to decide until the process is complete. He hasn't made up his mind in a year, why would I expect a quick turnaround now. We will be competitive. We will contend. We have some good pieces in place and we have some real good draft picks. If he wants to be a part of it, help finish what he started, great. If not, we'll work out a deal to trade him."

Nobody with any sort of record, self-respect or dignity would come in only to report to Garf. Not a chance in hell. If Snow has any say in the hire, it'll probably be Weight or Cronin. People that he can control.

If they hire a new GM and they say he has full control of all hockey ops and they push that clown upstairs with no authority I could care less if he stays. They can pay him to brush Ledecky's teeth for all I care

Garth totally out of the picture would be best, but I'll take him being out of the GM spot. Outside of Lou and Dean, who is the GM available with the winning track record though? I do think Lou would be open to coming aboard especially with Chris working for the team.

Don't you think JT heard this Horse Shat when he signed his very team friendly last contract? The BS isn't cutting it this time. Can you blame Him? I don't think anyone can. He can get 10 million with any team out there that wants him. So why should he say ok again to the myths and smoke and mirrors he's come to know for his whole career?

I mean he's taking his time and the Team has only themselves to blame for that. They gave him this time to make his decision and like everyone else who would be given the opportunity would surely take it. You can't blame him.
Just my opinion of course.

Guys as far as the Wang given fire proof, iron clad contract Snow has, can anyone tell me the specifics? Anyone?
No one knew what Snow was being paid on his first GM contract let alone this iron clad contract.
Hell no one knew what Crappy was making.
I get there may have been an extension given to Snow by his Sugar Daddy Wang but it will not stand in the way of L and M after spending $500,000,000 dollars on the team, another $1,000,000,000 on a proposed Arena and not fire Snow even if he’s making 5 million a year.
The BS that surrounds this team is just unbelievable. It’s a shat magnet and it’s really getting old

- nyisles7

I have no idea just going by what people that know more than me or anyone else on this page for that matter. Probably more speculative than anything else but a more educated guess than any if us have none the less. There certainly seems to be something significant holding back from making changes and it wouldn't surprise me if it were a contract or if it were at least part of the reason.
