Ok... i like the idea...
but is that realistic?

Teams just don’t seem to do that

- jdfitz77

The PA should sue the league for collusion on that.

I'm serious

Pach, serious question for you...
How would you recommend reconstructing this team to be a bubble playoff team next year, 2018-2019?
Your points are valid, however how do you reconcile them with:
- 31st finish, at 62sh points
- 25th finish year before
- GM and Coach both said they need to get faster, not “play” faster
- guy brought in to lead and was overpaid for it, doesn’t ... in fact rumors surround him on multiple fronts including having a rift with the assumption next captain
- Dman cited as being cited player refusing to play in two systems
- winger who took off nearly 40 games ... good on him for saving his contract year (must have ran into Stanford in January)

Couple the above with the fact trading Girgs and Larssons ain’t going to cut it.

What is in your head? I’m seriously interested, not trolling.

- IonSabres

We are adding 3 or 4 “core” pieces this year
Mittelstadt
Top4 pick
Guhle
Ullmark

Don’t u think that’s gonna help quite a bit?

Plus...
Rodrigues, Bailey, Baptiste, Nylander?
Now,
maybe these guys are only depth
But they will at the very least add SPEED to the lineup
And do have potential to score some goals

Nelson should also help defensively too

So even without doing anything major,
this team should make strides

The NHL is heading into that direction can't you see the the evolution that is occurring ?

Those teams like the LA Kings back in the day are fizzling case and point us we tried building our team like the LA Kings

- gerbe75pts

I 100% agree with the concept of becoming a fast team. But Toronto is getting blown out of the water right now by a heavier Boston team. Yes Bergeron, Marchand and Pasternak can fly. But guys like McQuaid, Chara, Backes still hold spots on the roster. LA is fizzling out becuase their core is flawed. Brown still stinks and nobody other then Kopitar are doing anything in this series

Thing is though, is all of Boston’s best players are excellent skaters

Pastrnak
Bergeron
Marchand
McAvoy
Nash

The exception is Chara, who’s a HOF’er.

Boston can still skate with the best of them

Boston isn't slow and Toronto's core guys the ones with speed are MIA

When your studs don't show up you're going to have a bad time

Vegas is faster than LA

Players in Caps are new from last year’s starting lineup

E ROD - Eichel - Okposo
WILSON - O’Reilly - Reinhart
NYLANDER - MITTELSTADT - Pominville
BAILEY - O’REGAN - BAPTISTE

DAHLIN - Ristolainen
Scandella - Bogosian/McCabe
GUHLE - NELSON
Antipin

ULLMARK
(FA GOALIE)

I realize that there’s still holes there,
and that that lineup isn’t ideal

But that is SIGNIFICANT change imo

Brings A LOT of SPEED into the lineup
And enough skill where we can actually hope to see lines 3 & 4 scoring regularly

Plus,
Our goaltending was so mediocre last year that i think we can assume whatever tandem we go with next year will be better

Not a FINISHED PRODUCT
But moving in the right direction

You kind of got me thinking, what are the top 10 Sabres trade assets? There's a couple I wouldn't want to move, but the list really gets thin at the end.

Jack
#1 pick
Casey
Risto
RoR
Sam
Guhle
Nylander
#2 pick
Scandella? Asplund?

- Lunaion

McCabe > 2nd
E rod> 2nd ?
Girgs = 2nd ???
Bailey , baptiste, ulmark?
