He’s the premier net presence in the game (Anders Lee has probably taken that from him) and BEST Power Play specialist out there.

I feel like Patrick Hornqvist would have a big complaint with that statement.

Oh, and sorry about your snowstorm fun... PA is getting more snow/frost in about 12-16 hours

Hard to disagree. Maybe not Tomas Holmstrom presence, but who is...?

While the reffing wasn't great, I was at least a bit surprised when the ref overturned the highsticking call when one of the refs saw that it was the puck that hit the player in the face and not a stick. Don't see that happening too often.

I chuckled at the 'hooking' call on Sheary's busted lip... Thought the fish hook gag was long gone.

It's one of the main reason the NHL doesn't get mainstream (in America) coverage. WWE style refereeing.

I have been harping on it for years - the officiating in the NHL (currently) is a joke and an embarassment to professional sports. Zero consistency. This would not last for five minutes in the NFL, MLB, or NBA.

The poor officiating often decides the outcome of games and that ruins the enjoyment of watching.

It is far past time for a major change at the top of the league. Time for Bettman and Campbell to go and bring in some fresh blood.

The Flyer's writer had in his write up that Sheary should have been called for embellishment until he was called out on that... then he 'watched the replay' and changed it.

Yeah, refs have been awful for both sides.

I think you just have to call the rulebook and make players adapt. You see a number of small infractions going on and analysts saying "yeah he's letting them play".

Problem is "letting them play" is subjective and just an excuse for bad officiating.

I wish NHL.com had the penalty call footage like they do the goals because some of those calls yesterday were comical both ways. And it's been all series. Game 2 with Tim Peel was atrocious.

Yes. He blocked Crosby, Provorov and looking back he blocked a clearance from Schultz too.

When anyone talks about a bumbling official trying to maintain order and discipline (but utterly failing) named Rooney, I think of this guy:

Well there the problem. What's the solution?

Do refs get dropped if they have a bad game, or just move on & Go (frank) another game in the back door patio?
