Agreed that it's the change in environment and his reverting to the style he played more his first season, before he and Kane both got a bit repetitive with that pass -> one-timer thing.
Found this interesting - wonder if it was Panarin himself who changed it up or if it was strongly suggested by the coaching staff?
Drew Robertson
@WerenskiWarrior
Its very entertaining reading the tweets of Hawks fans saying Panarin will suck in the playoffs because his One timer from the circles doesnt work then apparently. What they dont know is I think Panarin only used that One timer twice this season đ #CBJ - pdx2ord
i'll leave with this....hawks leading scorer last playoffs was Toews and kane with 2 points. 3 hawks scored a goal.....in the entire series...tnose 2 and Dennis Rasmussen.
Keith was a -6 Toews was a -5
Panarin had an assist.
Hawks need a lot of internal evaluation because every game I watch I see a TON of speed and skill..... |

Thank you for your personal attack - i expected it.
No - I do not have a link - I do not recall the source - may have been Powers or the Sun-Times beat reporter. I do remember reading it.
If you want to call it âfake newsâ, fine - I recognize I canât confirm a source. - StLBravesFan Not trying to attack anybody. From my perspective unfortunately sometimes guys just grasp at any negative rumor at all no matter how unproven by actual events and try to somehow make truth out of it in order to protect a really horrible team crushing move by mgt. for some reason. In this case it's very difficult to defend mgt against the truth backed up by actual facts. Actual statistics. Second worst trade in Hawks history IMO. |

If Saad fails to revert to what's been his norm, about 50+ points and a strong two way game then sure, it's debatable...but it's been one season.
Right now, the Phil Esposito trade, Roenick for Zhamnov, Chelios for Ericsson, Belfour for some garbage, Dominick Hasek for Christian Ruutuu are a handful of trades I'd rather have a do-over on. |

In spite of what Panarin did this year and his points in the first 2 play-off games I still would not reverse the trade for Saad. Saad kills penalties, is a power forward with speed and will be a huge asset moving forward. - Z3Hawk

Not only did Bowman 'trade' budding superstar 80+ point Panarin for very little return, no disrespect to Saad, he destroyed the highest scoring line in the league which went 6 miles toward the team falling from first to last place. By doing so he slapped Kane right in the face by feebly attempting to favor Toews at the expense of Kane whose production and especially his plus minus suffered substantially as he could be game planned for by other teams alone because there was no left wing to take the pressure off. That is IMO a heck of a lot of damage for one day even for Bowman. |

He tried to provide the team with something they were lacking, a heavy 2 way forward with speed. You demand proof from other posters about what they're posting with respect to the trade; but what you post in terms of how Kane may have felt is pure speculation.
There's time and the ability for reflection on the side of all the trades I mentioned. They're all worse. |

Correct if you make deals some are going to come back and bite u .Parnarin on a hot streak of late sure .He on a good team who the goalie has bailed out numerous occasions ,ref's also tonight .They are also playing the perennial chocker's of this league . Can't believe they did not start Holtby .Some here have already anointed him the 2nd coming ,I am not ready to do that . IMO once a quitter always a quitter ,and he did quit last year on the HAWKS . |

Panarin's been on a hot streak not just lately but the entire year if the stats are correct. How about Saad? Did he quit on the Hawks? Sure seems like it if the stats are correct. |

If Saad is such a good two way player how come he was a minus player this year while Panarin was a plus player? Actually it makes sense that Panarin is the better two way player. |

Certainly, time for Columbus to erect a statue - BetweenTheDots
Order a second statue for Savoy. But he really needs loudspeakers to hear himself saying Panarin is the grestest since sliced bread was invented. No need for a fathead; surely he has them on walls throughout his home.

Stan will just sign Panarin next offseason and the Blackhawks will have both he and Saad. It'll be fine.

Who would have thought the Knights would sweep the Kings.
What kind of pathetic team can only score 3 goals in a playoff series. Thatâs absolutely terrible, LA should fold their franchise. |

too bad Q isn't their coach because then they could fire him and everything would be back on track.

When I'm really down, I try to think of just how many all-star teams' worth of talent the 'Hawks have shed since 2010. And then I feel worse.
But it sure does make me appreciate the 3 Cups all the more! |

It has definitely hurt watching Panarin be so effective against the Capitals, although I am rooting for his success because I just really like the guy.
Having said that, I am still not ready to say that the trade for Saad is a failure.
Remember, the Hawks last year were swept by Nashville with Panarin. I donât think the Capitals this year are any match for the top teams of the league, and Iâm not sure Panarin would be so effective against a tighter checking squad. The hawks of last year stood no chance of beating Nashville this year. I believe that management correctly identified a young puck control power forward that plays around the net as a major position of need, and Saad was a very good fit.
Another thing that doesnât get mentioned as frequently is that the Hawks were dealing from a relative position of strength, because both Schmaltz and Debrincat are more perimeter playing scorers/playmakers, who are having legit NHL success at an age where Panarin was on nobodyâs radar.
Anyways, Iâm ready to let this trade continue to play out, and although it hurts now, hopefully a year from now if Saad gets back to normal production it is easier to swallow. This trade basically has been a worst case scenario up to this point where Panarin has exceeded expectations and Saad has fallen well short.
I feel that the Blackhawks are circling 2019-2020 as their next legit cup run, and a last chance for their aging core to recapture glory. They will have a nice nucleus of young skilled players entering their prime alongside their grizzled vets, and maybe Panarin just didnât fit into this plan. If the Blackhawks can find a way to add 2 nice free agents in the $5m range who are hungry to win the cup, a la Hossa 2009, then suddenly their team is looking relatively deep and they should still have space to resign their young guys. The major question with this team is how much do Toews, Kane, Seabs, Keith have left? Not only in terms of skill, but also in terms of hunger to win. Without that burning desire that this core once showed, there is no chance to return to glory and the Blackhawks have to move on from whoever is no longer committed. Iâm cautiously optimistic for the next few years of Blackhawks hockey, hopefully we pick a stud in the draft and our players come back refreshed and ready to play every shift next year.

You guys can female dog all you want about the Panarin deal, and have a legit agrument, but, after watching a few games in the playoffs, I still say after all these years the guy the Hawks miss the most come playoff time;
Big Buff!
Just destroys people. I miss me some big buff. |
