I am guessing he gets something that ends up being a 8.5-9 million cap hit.
And I understand Hextalls approach so understand it's unlikely but it could be the super sneak attack that know one sees. - J35Bacher
If they some how signed him the Flyers would be legit contenders next season in my eyes so it would certainly speed up the process for us. I'd love to see him on the team but the rational part of me says its probably not happening haha If you put him with Giroux and TK that would be the best line in the NHL next season. |

The money would definitely be there for the Flyers to make a run at him but with his current philosophy I don't see Hextall trying to pursue him, I'd love to be wrong though. I don't see Hextall making a big free agent splash until this team is a contender. You're right NYI will likely sign him and if they don't they are complete idiots. - FreshFlyer
FA is getting worse and worse every year. I think trades are going to be the way you see most players moved. |

Yeah seems to be headed that way, the star guys just don't test the market often anymore. |

I’m bored at work. Question: Would you trade Voracek if it meant we signed Tavares? Before you answer or call me naughty names: I love Voracek and have no desire to trade him. Just looking for some fun work distractions. - arichardson22
Id make a run at Tavares.
For me you can shed money on complimentary players any day - but I would overpay the elite guys. Gudas and Simmonds would free up the needed funds. |

They aren't contenders as long as they continue to put band-aids on the goal-tending position.
Without a goalie this team can not win the cup, even with JT.

Oh i get it.
But if you really think about it the Flyers are in almost prefect position to make it work. His age is perfect to enter the Flyers window to win. Not many superstars reach FA at his age. Lots get locked up early and only hit FA late 20's, early 30's.
Also he allows for you to eventually trade Voracek or Giroux later in the future if you need to open up some money.
And all he costs is money. Don't need to trade picks or prospects for him |

It would no doubt be the most effective UFA signing he could make.
People will jump all over me for this one but I'd take Rick Nash for a year or two as a UFA... at the right cap hit. I can't stress that part enough. I wouldn't be signing him expecting him to be his former self but he's a guy that can actually snipe(something sorely lacking in our forward depth) and would be an instant upgrade to PP2.
Again, I wouldn't go over 2 years and I wouldn't go nuts on the money. But if the money/term made sense I'd certainly consider it. I'm just not thrilled with our LW depth behind Giroux right now and I don't know what prospects we have that project as NHL LW's |

For me - the biggest "need" so to speak is the goalie.
Carter Hart is ideally that guy but I dont think its fair for the organization to simply wait for him. You hope he pans out but to just squander the next few years hoping for that I am kind of iffy with.
Part of me hopes they would at least put out feelers for a guy like Dubnyk or Crawford but I do think we see Elliot with either Stolarz/Lyon next year. Which isn't all that crazy as you might as well give the kids you have been developing a shot. - flyer_nutter
I liked what I saw from Stolarz when he played some games last season. His size in net intrigues me that's for sure. I just don't know what kind of toll those injuries had on his game they were pretty serious. |

I see your Nash and raise you a Kovalchuk. If we are doing short term deals - Id pay him. |

There's a fine line with this blueprint. Chicago has gone this route after the Kane/Towes extensions and it finally burned them. |

I'm all for them trying to make a run at him like I said he'd make the team a lot better instantly. We would become a nightmare to match-up against with Him, Patrick and Couts as the top 3 centers. |

Does Kovy play LW? If so I'd consider it. I wouldn't care for him at RW with Jake and TK already here. |

Yeah I'd actually seriously consider Kovy if I was the Flyers. He probably adds 30 goals to the offense and is a legit sniper, something we've been lacking. It all depends on the dollars for me though. I don't think I'd go over 5.5 mil for Kovy and who knows how much he's looking for. |

Just to play a little devil's advocate, what would happen with Frost in a few years if they were to sign JT? |

If I were to ponder what Kovaluchuk would be looking for in terms of $ I'd say it's north of $6 millies
And I don't think I'd want him on the Flyers, IMHO. |

I assume he'd play the wing. I'm not sure Frost projects to be a center in the NHL anyway. Might end up being like a TK where he played center in junior but is a winger in the NHL. |

Nash is a big body too. It’s not easy knocking him off the puck. I’d kick tires on him too but as you said, term / cap would have to make sense for us. |
