Philly's top line minutes look kind of scary, is riding those ponies that hard sustainable? It looks like the strategy is to fire all guns early to try for a lead. Worked in game 2, but the hockey gods were fickle in game 3.

I would normally expect game effects on shot totals to kick in, but not so much.

Some of the time on ice totals are a little surprising and may hint at future adjustments

Whits is the man though. Spittin' Chiclet's is seriously one of the best podcasts to listen to. That dude is comedy.

I just can't stand Barstool so I never even tried it. I even kind of lost track of PFT since he made the move from SB nation to the Stool. I tried to listen to Pardon My Take but Big Cat is just so insufferable that he ruins it for me.

I think its also by far the best top 4 D we've had in the Crosby-Malkin Era. I don't really remember how good/bad it was when we had Gonch, Gogo, Orpik, and Scuds all in their prime and a rookie Kris Letang, but since I've been seriously watching the Pens, this kicks the crap out of any defense we've had.
- Victoro311

We didn't really get Gogo in his prime and he broke in after Letang. It wasn't really a strong group when we won that 1st Cup. Relied on Scuderi and Hal Gill as a shutdown duo.

This group is probably our deepest 1-4. I might still pick 2016 just because Letang was at an amazing level.

What does not playing the sport have to do with anything?

Meaning his opinion is as valid as yours or mine (not very). Sorry, but commenting about anything you don't have hands on experience in is just blowing hot air. That's what we do, and that's all they does, they just have experience and education as a writer to make it seem more valid. I much more respect the opinions and criticism of athletes who have actual insight as to why and what they say is or is not, instead of what they gather from disconnected, 3rd party observations behind the glass. You and me, just like Carchidi and Poni; we don't know jack, we're just here to humor ourselves and everyone else reading.

I don't pay attention to anything Barstool. I just like Spittin' Chiclets. They always have some solid guests on too. Any episode with Biz is usually funny as hell. The Bieska one was good. He's had Bones and Sheary on there too. Dubnyk was a good interview, any interview with his former team mates usually have some funny stories. You should give it a shot. They usually pump out an episode a week and have a guest on every episode.

Courtier can't last playing that much a game in a full postseason run. Many defensive don't even touch that many minutes

I think you have made a good case on why your opinions are invalid.

Looking at the numbers Gonchar and Letang were the best 2 D in 2009. Overall as a team they didn't necessarily win the shot battle but focused on winning the high danger chances. Either way (frank) Talbot.

They were good at that. They had Gonchar, Letang, and 4 classic defensive defensemen. But mostly they won because of their forwards including Talbot having the run of his career.

I think they're just trying to do their best this round and don't really expect a long playoff run so they can play those guys a ton.

One game at a time. No team is looking at sustaining a long playoff run. They're all looking at winning the next game.

That's what i keep hearing people saying, but I was definitely much more confident in the 4th line when Cullen was running it. But Lines 1-3, for sure stronger. Just the 4th I think is weaker.

No. I feel more comfortable with Riley Mofo Sheahan. The wings are just spare parts tho ZAR is far superior to anyone we had 2 years ago.

Yeah and if you wear your guys out but get through your series quicker they get a few days to rest.

Didn't realize Brass only had 11 mins. I hope they just limited his minutes because of the score.

Sheahan with 15.

Sheahan had 7 minutes of PK time to Brass's :22. At 5v5, Brass had 7 and Sheahan had 8 1/2.

Now that I think about it. The 2nd PP unit didn't get much time either. Seemed like the first unit played most of the 2mins. Lotta penalties in that game.

Pens were in control after the first. So probably just playing it smart with his minutes. The more they can get Sheahan playing here early in the series the better.

I remember him taking a cheap shot up high later in the 2nd... possibly Sully gave him rest since he is still a bit fresh off that injury, just incase.

They just announced that Biz was joining the podcast, and they were gonna try to do 2 episodes a week.
