Maybe the Leafs should hire Poile so he can draft us some top defenders. - Steven_Seagull
Sorry, let him walk. Hamhuis too who was a top-4 defender at the time.
The guy who is in charge of their defense drafting is a wizard. |

wow, I see it completely the opposite.
Jones as a dman on a much weaker team outscored Johansen this year. Nashville didn't get Chiarelli'd on the deal, but Jones is one of, if not THE best young Dman in the league. - Aetherial
Nashville isn’t a very offensive team, and since the trade they’ve done so much better than CBJ.
There’s obviously other factors at play in that... but to me, Nashville filled such an important role, without taking a huge loss on the back end, due to their depth.
For Columbus, they gave up a #1 C for a #1D, when they already arguably had one in Werenski.
I guess at the end of the day, Columbus felt they’d reached the end with Johansen, so they got great value for someone that wasn’t a long term piece for them.
I just think at the end of the day, Nashville benefited more. |

Could use a new forward guy though. Fiala is their best...ever? |

Arvidsson?
Edit: why draft forwards, when you can draft great defencemen, then trade some for great forwards? The system...works? |

The best has to be Erat. But not because of his play. |

how did it get this bad? i know blown calls have always been a thing because it's a fast sport but it really does seem to have gotten worse over the last several years. did all the good refs retire lol |

And it's not just the NHL. It's every league. They've all seen a serious downturn in officiating. |

I think it's because they put the whistle away for the playoffs so you have what's happening in the wild vs jets series now. Refs are calling way more things to keep the situation from escalating. |
