Babs is going for a defensive approach and you would prefer a fire vs fire approach....

we will see how this turns out but a few players will have to step up. The Plek line has to limit the damage and the other 3 lines have to chip in offensively.

- Symba007

hate to say it, but babs screwed the pooch on this one.

Come on Rev, you have every right to be skeptical, but keep the I told you so's until AFTER they get annihilated. In the mean time, just relax and believe.

I'm very disappointed at how suddenly and emphatically this season came to an end. Cause let's be honest, we're not winning 4 of the next 5
- BestRapperAlive

I was at least hoping for a good, competitive series like last year against Washington. Would be happy with that. This has just been downright depressing so far

You made the argument that Marleau failed against Bergeron like it was completely his fault, and you're doing it again saying the only reason any team is any good is because of their coach. Level off a bit and realize Babs is a good coach but could be better. That's all anyone is saying.
- UsernameUnknown

When did I say it was completely his fault? Please point it out

I said Marleau failed at C. He can't play C against Bergeron, watch the game for proof. He didn;t get any help, but he still sucked.

and where did I say any team is only good because their coach?

Please go back and read.

Sure, that helps, so does the coach.

You are literally trying to pinpoint success and failures on things to just try and make your argument right, however proving no evidence.

Babs and the Leafs turned this team around.

Matthews has a huge hand in it, Marner does, Kadri does, Babs does.

Agreed. We have to win tonight or its over. I dont know, I just dont know what to expect from this team at this point. If they had the full team with Kadri I would book a win tonight. Now, with the way they have been playing and Pleks as our #2 center, who knows...

but Santo seems on board!

- Hockey_Reverend

There's no real 1 through 4, the designation #2 means nothing. There's time on ice and situations and that's really it.

Plek as a some people have predicted will get another shot at defensive play against the Bergeron line so the scorers can try to score, something they've struggled to do as well.

this has been a good series to really highlight our shortcomings.

hyman, bozak, hainsey, Z, jvr, leo and plek. all playing too much.

- Tumbleweed

I agree but what happens if they win it? I can't say anything until it's officially over except some center depth will be nice.

I know most teams would have issues if they lost a top 2 center but man it feels the Leafs go from a 1 and 2 right down to a 4 and 5.

I agree Kadri & Gardiner seem to have hit their potential, finally. Gardiner is a risky offensive defenseman who goofs up occasionally, and Kadri turned into a shutdown center on the 3rd line & somehow also puts up 60 points a year.

There's been good coaches before but they never got through to a lot of players, for whatever reason.

I think the same is happening in Edmonton. Good coach but a bad matchup with the current team (and horrible GM).

1 thing Babcock is really bad at, is being stubborn (or maybe good at, if that makes more sense). He takes forever to change his mind or try new, out of the box, stuff.

Yes, he knows better, we're not NHL coaches, but he's got a pattern from even before coming to Toronto, in his Detroit days. He's stubborn and very slow to change things that dont work. Its one of his pitfalls, but hey, no one is perfect & he's done more good things for the young players on this team than previous coaches.

- Buggy166

Sure, just like anyone.

If you are an advanced stat fanatic, you are likely going to be hard-pressed to move Gardiner down the lineup. Why? because it is what you believe works. Are you wrong to be reluctant to do so? Well if you had success in the past for it I don't blame you
