Carol Schram: Anders Nilsson to play in World Championship & Canucks prospects roundup As the NHL playoffs deliver high-quality entertainment, Vancouver Canucks netminder Anders Nilsson has signed on to play for Sweden at the World Championship while Elias Pettersson and Olli Juolevi continue their European postseason runs and Jonathan Dahlen prepares to make his North American debut with the Utica Comets.

Thanks Carol! We need something other than the Bruin Leafs series to talk about.

I'd like to see those kids come over and play with the Comets.

That was a pretty sweet goal by Pettersson. Damn that kid has patience with the puck. I'm not convinced he's coming over next year but if he does I'll be excited!!!

You disagree? European teams take it very serious. Lose the Canadian-centric viewpoint

Selfishly, I'd like to see him at Worlds because Finland's in the same bracket as Canada, so I'd get to see a lot of him. I've seen him play live a bit, at the Summer Showcase last July and at YoungStars in Penticton, but I'd really like to see more.

Also, the Marlies have been really good this season. I don't want to get too pessimistic, but the Comets' playoff run might not be very long if they can't move up into third place.

Syracuse Toronto and Utica have been close lately . Win one / lose one.

I know they do. I just don’t think it’s that intense/special when 2 of the top countries don’t really care. Plus it seems like any North American player with a paper cut drops out.

I’ve seen the round robin games before and they don’t seem very intense. The medal rounds, sure.

In the olympics you’ll see guys treat their NHL teammates like enemies, I doubt you’d see anything like that in the WHC’s.

I'm with Carol on Juolevi playing at worlds. Be a great opportunity too evaluate whether or not he can compete at nhl level. Most of the players on the rosters are nhl players, be nice too see him hold his own against them.

Worlds would be nice, but if OJ joined Utica they could really have a shot. They could also last long enough to maybe see EP as well?

Yeah, the talent level there will be a good measuring stick for sure. Especially if Finland at least gets to the semi-finals

I don’t think another offensive dman would hurt. Outside of Welrcoch, it’s most just defensive or 2am-way type of guys.

I don't know the actual record of Comets vs Marlies this year but felt like games were pretty close. With all the help that Utica is getting and healthier. Games could be different at this time of the season.

I like all this optimism! I'll look closer at the breakdown after the weekend, once the matchups are set.

Hoping Dahlen, Goldy + Motte can be difference-makers this weekend!

I think the comets can beat anyone. Who's this arsenault guy, he sure plays tough. I had to laugh listening on the radio and the color guy was using his nickname arse

3-1 Marlies
4-3 Marlies
5-2 Marlies
5-2 Comets
4-3 Marlies
3-1 Comets
3-2 Marlies
3-2 Comets

5-3 season series between the 2 teams. Comets have been definitely getting better as the season went on.
