I haven't been here for some time. I have to agree with the minority here, this was a pointless blog. I think it's fair to say we are all disappointed/angry/flabbergasted by this team and the ineptitude of management but why post a big long female dog fest?

Yep the cupboards are so bare of prospects and it is scary that Chia thinks it is a good idea to possibly put the first in play to get someone else's trash.

It would need to be a home run type deal to trade the first. With another expansion draft looming in a year or two having young pros on elc's and in the minors will be key again to not losing anything of consequence. But we all know he is going to go full out to get into the playoffs next year despite whatever it may mean long term just to try to save his cushy job.

Yep I am sure he will cripple long term success for the short term gain to save his job. He really better hope that Talbot returns to Vezina worth form as well.

If ur thinking of moving the first, you attach russel to it.
Or
Just pretty much give away sekera for a middling prospect and a short term salary dump

Along with making upgrades, need to jettison at least 2 of those 3 anchor deals before the expansion

Eberle for Strome was a move to get younger, longer term, deeper at center, better two way, and clear out cap space. Cap space absolutely needed this next year coming up. Also helped with Leon Negotiations/offer sheet. The amount of cap space after ELC bonuses the Oilers actually had to play with is far less than the anti Chiarelli crowd seem able to calculate.

Not to mention Eberle very clearly was struggling in Edmonton and needed a change.

Russell contract turned out to be worth it this year. One of our better defenders this year.

Nurses development easily would have offset missing Sekera.

What no one could/did predict is Klefbom and Talbot crapping the bed and derailing the team for at least the first quarter of the season.

Larsson having personal issues. Benning regressing a bit. LB falling apart... special teams...

I dont believe our prospect depth is worse now then it was 5 years ago. Its not great but I do think it is getting better under PC. This doesnt excuse his blatant mistakes last off season having absolutely no vision for the upcoming season. He made several gambles and lost every one of them with no backup plan in place to prevent what happened.

You have one middle of the road D prospect in Jones in the Minors. 0 Centre prospects. Yamo will more than likely make the opening day roster so basically 0 wingers. And a decent prospect in Skinner. I am not sure where Bear will end up next year to start but he is also a nice prospect.

How is it possible that someone can be so incredibly deluded and wrong on so many levels ?
- why did we need to get younger? Eberle is in his prime.
- eberles contract is longer than stromes, not shorter
- We actually spent more money considering the created space was used to overpay russel the next day
- that could be even more if strome gets a raise
- we weren’t better two way. Still let in a ton of goals and regressed offensively. This two way cliche is way overused
- how did it help with Leon’s deal? We had the space last summer regardless. And leon ended up getting pretty much a max deal anyway

Russell contract turned out to be worth it this year. One of our better defenders this year.
-not even close. It’s an awful deal for a 3rd pairing defender. Not only that, but the closer we get to expansion, the more desperate we are to move him so we’re not stuck protecting him.
- one of our better defenders on a group that is in the bottom 3rd, was plagued with injuries and had mediocre years for many isn’t something to be proud of.

Nurses development easily would have offset missing Sekera.
- but it didn’t. Like at all. It was nice that he took steps forward, but he did not cover up for what a healthy sekera did the previous season. The fuk are u talking about ? We had a terrible defence.

What no one could/did predict is Klefbom and Talbot crapping the bed and derailing the team for at least the first quarter of the season.
This is more poor planning. Goalies have down years ALL the time. It’s not even an exception. It’s pretty much the rule. Dude was vezina caliber the season before and carried this team many nights. To expect that again, but even worse not identify that he masked so many holes on the roster and not upgrade accordingly means you’re an awful gm. And in your case, a confused fan.

Larsson having personal issues. Benning regressing a bit. LB falling apart... special teams...
Larsson struggled before the personal stuff. As soon as Oscar struggled, AL’s deficiencies and inability to move the puck were totally magnified. Larsson is a solid counterpart for Oscar, but Klefbom is clearly the engine that drives any success. If he’s average, larsson is a 2nd pairing stay home guy. (That we dealt a hart nominee for ..ugh.). Funny part is that we’re still looking for that rhd stud. But can’t afford to waste any more assets.

- brossoits struggles were surprising to pretty much no one
- benning regressing/stalling should’ve been surprising to literally no one

- special teams was surprising. I’ll give you that

.

you must be Peter chiarelli or his son or something. “Expect the best and everything to go smoothly and don’t bother preparing otherwise “ .....
“Wow, that didn’t go as planned. Who coulda seen that comin!?”

I'm not gonna sit here and say they have a deep prospect pool, but you seem to lack an understanding of the Oilers' prospect pool.

Not funny, this guy is hilarious. I can stop laughing. You are a bitter partisan swirling down the toilet. Just accept the truth, Matt on point are you gonna drink the coolaid and be ignorantly bliss about this. Matt has great writing skill your critisism is unfair if you disagree with his writing so be it. This is 10 times better material then Mark Spector. Actually funny! Oilers need accountability from here fans this is healthy and good.

But seriously Hendo, I think PC sucks too, but your act is getting stale. The constant pissing and moaning....like, who actually does look forward to your blogs anymore? You don’t even mix some humour in...ever! You’re so far gone in your deep rooted hatred that even if PC did something good you would search for the poop stained lining and report on that.
Honestly, you’re a broken record, not fun at all, and the fans on this site deserve better.
Freelancer is already 10 times better at this than you, you should step down.

- Larsson_fan

This is the truth. I have no love for PC but I'm also not enamored with the redundant and repetitive whinging without offering a shred of insight.

I'm also not enraged about it like some are. I'm just bored with it.

This.

Being an Oiler fan is never easy Hendo. You’re a solid writer, but the non stop bashing blogs are getting awfully tiring. Yeah Oiler management is inept. You know it and we know it, and there isn’t a (frank)ing thing any of us can do about it. So why do you have to recycle that narrative endlessly?

- Wildschwein

It mostly just reeks of laziness and lack of originality. If you are going to copy and paste the same sour poop as a blog ever week just give up on writing altogether.

And I'd give the same advice if you are going to copy and paste the same bubbly poop every week.

If it was just as negative, but in a more analytical manner and a less sensational manner I wouldn't have a problem. The problem is Henderson's blogs have become the equivalent of watching re-runs of a terrible soap opera.
