Wingels did catch Marner with that elbow though. Targeted or not, he should have got 2 minutes for that. Kadri's hit was stupid, should have just fought him instead. This was typical Kadri when he gets rocked off his game and starts throwing temper tantrums. He has to reel it in and stay calm, then he's effective.

Watch the tape , Kadri’s so called hit is targeted to the head. He had time to adjust/change the contact but actually moved up to make head contact.
Has to be 2 games, I mean does anyone think this is ok? Entertaining? Or my fave “part of the game”....it’s a product of heavyweights being unemployed in this league, and I pray someone doesn’t end up permanently injured or worse. Players that try to hurt don’t have any fear.

No. It is not. Having heavyweights on the bench has zero effect in deterring scum from making dirty plays. It’s always happened even when the league employed a lot of so called heavyweights.

Its a tough loss tho (if it happens) considering hes one of your better defensive forwards (if not your best) but i think TOR will bounce back with a much better effort in game 2 with or without Kadri.

If Marchand did either of those hits, the NHL & Toronto media would be preparing for an execution at center ice before game 3...

Am I the only one that didn't find the Kadri hit that bad considering Wingels turned and fell? Five and the misconduct makes sense. The missed call on the elbow to Marner was just an added dagger.

what is the actual real time between Kadri starting to glide, and making contact. think I saw a tweet say less then half a second (can't confirm). When Kadri starts gliding, Wingles is just starting to lean/reach for the lose puck and fall. Less then half a second later contact.

Plays like last night's hit by Kadri are products of the inconsistent reffing that happens in the playoffs.

You don't put the whistles away and call the actual dirty penalties instead of the chincy poop and players don't get all frustrated and worked.

I love playoff hockey and as much as it pains me to say it the refs need to call everything. Get back to actually playing skill hockey instead of dirty physical hockey. Legal checks, big hits, etc. are great. Kadri's hit on Wingels, the knee on Nash, Wingels elbow to Marner's face - all those need to be called.
