Kempny got creamed into the boards, terrible hit out for the night. Game misconduct I think it was Anderson hit him on the numbers head first into the board. - walleyeb1
Certainly didn't look good for Kempny. I wouldn't be surprised if he is out for a bit. |

Also I'm very happy we traded 80+ goals created for 36 with Saad. Saad is a "playoff type" player...oh wait.... - EnzoD
I STILL can't believe so many people were fooled by the whole Saad vs Panarin thing....
It wasn't that hard to figure out
Panarin would have done all the things Saad did(and more) from 2013-2015 during those playoff runs.
Saad got lucky to be on that roster
Also....all one has to do is simply watch the two players play in a vacuum ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE who the better player is. |

Gotta call it...Bowman got bent over (yet again) by the Jackets.
I thought the deal was a good one to make...but it clearly was a fleece job. He also got a poopty goalie as well. Forsberg stinks.
You really think the guy who made all these trades can rebuild this team? Hogwash...it's over I think. |

The ONLY way you trade a talent like Panarin to Columbus is if Jones was coming back. It's quite simple, Artemi Panarin was involved in creating 82 goals in the Regular Season and 3 of the Jackets 4 goals tonight. Brandon Saad was involved in creating 36 goals for the Hawks who are at home. 82 is better than 36 by a lot more than "playoff experience" can compensate for. Last time I checked goals scored are important to win at the sport of ice hockey. Artemi Panarin creates goals at an Elite level and when his contract is up next summer the Hawks could've budgeted $8mil for him. Bowman is a clown and Kwolf is right on the dot. What about Stan Bowman's 4 year track record tells you he can make this team a contender again?? |

Nice goal. Too bad he didn't do any of that while he was playing for the Hawks in the playoffs...maybe he'd still be here. - HawkintheD
He had 2 series(one of which I'm pretty sure he lead our team in pts)....both first round exits playing for flawed teams that at the very least you could say were clearly not the best team in the league(far from it in fact).
Saad, however, played in 11 playoff series. And in all 11 those Hawks teams were considered the creme of the crop in the NHL, or at least a top 2-3 team. A modern day dynasty in the making.
So using those 2 playoff resumes as a way to determine who the better player is is nonsense IMO |

Still got a long way to go. The Hawks got one good player in that deal in Pit Martin but they gave Boston two really good players (Hodge and Stanfield) and one HOF one. |

Show me where I said Saad is the better player. I still think he bounces back next year and makes the trade not look as bad as it did this one.
Let's not go the revisionist history route and try claiming that Arty looked great in the Blues series or anything resembling good vs the Preds.
There were like 2 or 3 guys that exhibited a pulse in that series and he wasn't one of them.
My point was, if you'd seen him flying up the wing making that kind of play in the playoffs while he was a Hawk, he may still be one. |

Should have kept Danault, never traded Saad in the first place, never traded Panarin, never overpaid Bickell or Kane or Toews and that way would have never had to lose Teravainen....and what if Hossa never had to shut it down early?....it goes on and on and on....
Our forwards right now could be so insanely good:
Teravainen-Toews-DeBrincat
Panarin-Schmaltz-Kane
Saad-Danault-Hossa
Hartman/Hinostroza/Duclair/Sikura

Stanley should be thanking his Daddy every waking moment. He will never be hired again as a GM after he is fired by the Hawks. Thanks Daddy for bringing your unqualified son to Chicago. If the Hawks want an experienced, qualified new GM they might have to lose McEgo in the purge too. Do you think a Brendan Shanahan type would put up with McEgo? |

Tommy wingels got hit like that tonight, too. Except for panarin’s game winner, it seems like a bad night to ex-Hawks.

Unfortunately the marketing guy calling the shots would never let the GM trade the so called face of the franchise. Even if it made the team better - TJYTJY
Has been very interesting to see them pushing Kane more and more as the sole face of the franchise this year. Features on his best/favorite goals, more locker room interviews, etc. Particularly eyebrow raising when you consider it was the Toews/Kane 10th anniversary year. You'd think the features would have been equally focused on both.
Don't know if they are reading their audience or prepping their audience. |

Doughty got 1 game suspension so Kadri should get 2-3 at least.
Filip Forsberg with an unreal move for the Nashville Mustard bottles on ice.
Evander Kane with 2 goals for the Sharks.
Penguins in 5
Bruins in 5
Blue Jackets in 7
Tampa in 6
Vegas in 6
Sharks in 6
Preds in 5

Unfortunately, running the Tankathon lottery simulator, it appears more likely the Hawks pick 8-10 as a team or teams may jump them in the 1-3 lottery sweeps. Who do you take at 8-10 if the draft goes by the pre-draft rankings? - EnzoD
If any of the top 7 fall to 8-10 I’d probably do that. Veleno is risky but has a higher ceiling than Dobson, Hughes, Farabee in my opinion. My hope is that if the Hawks don’t win a 1-3 pick, that only 1 team jumps over them to bump em to 8. We absolutely have to nail this pick, it should be the best pick we get for years (hopefully). |

Saw the Panarin OT goal. Totally on the goalie leaving top right corner open, but kudos to Panarin for seeing it and hitting it. |

Panarin already tied for second in playoff scoring with 3 points in the first game. Of course there are valid reasons why he was traded for nothing. These reasons include mgt incompetence and stupidity as well as other mgt failures we are used to. Makes you wonder who is getting paid under the table from St. Louis. Fire Bowman right now. |

Are you serious? Really? If Breadman even has half a career Phil had, th e trade is justified. |

Big deal he showed up for a playoff game, did you see theGW goal, this board would be going crazy if Corey let in a soft ass goal to lose in OT. I mean you talk about soft

It's obvious to me as well if Panarin was playing against the LVGK he'd be a non factor, the way that team puts their body on players all night and seem to always have the defensive position covered is impressive |

Panarin with the GWG plus 2 assists in the Blue Jacket game 1 OT win.
In 12 playoff games, Panarin has 3 goals (including 2 GWG) plus 8 assists.
But I thought he doesn't play hard in the playoffs and only cares about hitting his regular season bonuses? Too bad when facts get in the way.
Just another stupid Bowman move. |

I watched the first period of the Caps/Jackets game, and Panarin looked small and ineffective.
I've probably seen more hitting in 6 periods of playoff hockey this post season than the entire year for the Blackhawks. - Dieselhead
I take it the third might have changed your mind then?
Edited read a few comments- guess not ... oh well, sour grapes are unbecoming. making the easy trade was all it was - the equivalent of feeding the kids for a week on fast food.
