Who is this and what the (frank) did you do to Jimbo?!

Haha. I’ll never subscribe to the theory that there are good Corsi players. Like winning almost every game from the 2nd half of 2013-14 through 2014-15, always protecting a lead and bashing Dan Girardi for not having good Corsi because he was always out late in games protecting a lead will never make sense to me.

But I have warmed up to the idea that a coaches system in today’s day and age needs to embrace these theories much more than I used to. I am open to it.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. Although I'm thinking Tampa's team corsi was brutal yesterday.

Yeah. They look like the Rangers just with an easier time scoring goals

I'm definitely more on board with somebody young and innovative and I am way more receptive towards Corsi and advanced stats and hiring someone with that kind of backround than I have ever been

that is the direction I am advocating going

I just think Stevens would be similar to a Brian Trottier. Ranger fans already loathe him, so if he comes here and is terrible then it just gets worse for everybody.

Winnipeg and Vegas corsi through the roof. But like everything else it's all relative. Vegas can't do anything about Quick going into god mode.

Yup. Not a bad idea to look at it over a long stretch, but the people that look at it every game, there are going to be a decent amount of outliers.

yeah, when it comes down to it, I am open to bringing in someone who has it as part of his pedigree. I am kind of open to everybody as long as it isn't Lindy Ruff.

Since we are gonna have a young team for a few years, just my opinion, but I would like to see an AHL coach that has had success and been on the job for awhile. Someone that is used to working with a young team and knowing how to motivate them.

What if Guy Boucher gets let go from Ottawa? I think he would be an interesting choice.

He worked as a special assignment coach in the AHL, defensive coach with NJ and Minnesota in the NHL. Love Stevens, but I’m not sure he has the experience yet to be a head coach.

Yes. His teams, outside of this year, are normally good defensively.

Good defensively, but man some boring hockey. Would try to find someone in the middle of Boucher's all defense and AV's all offense

I look at at Corsi numbers the same way I look at NFL quarterback ratings. Worthless stats that provoke discussion at the bar on the corner on a Friday night with the boys.
FWIW to illustrate my point: Chad Pennington is in the all-time top 15 for Quarterbacks in the history of the NFL for QBR. Corsi means little to nothing...

Chad Pennington was good....

Edit: Corsi is just basically shot attempts for and against 5 on 5. of the 10 teams that finished with the most shots against, 6 didn't make the playoffs.

Good, NEVER great, when healthy was a above average QB for those years w the Jets but I get that posters point. You would never say the name Chad Pennington & think he would be in the top 15 QB's all time in ratings.

Chad played in 89 games (started 81) - the lowest of anyone I think in the top 20. As soon as you set a cut-off like 100, dudes like him and Kaep fall off easily leaving all the recognizable crew. Of course, QBR is skewed such that like 90% of the people on any 'top x' list are all modern day QBs (ie. post 1990).

And Chad wasn't bad by any means. He didn't always throw TDs but he also didn't throw too many ducks either.

If Washington loses this series, they should trade Ovechkin. It’s obviously not working with him there time after time after time

what they really need to do is get rid of Tom Wilson, he is just as dumb as a box of rocks. He couldn't take dumber penalties.

I think it's worth adding that QBR, like Corsi, should not been seen as an individual stat. Without a solid O-line Bland Pennington would never have stats worth discussing.
