The #Pens finish the regular season 68 for 260 on the power play, good enough for a 26.2% conversion rate.

This sets a new club record, passing the 26.0% mark set in 1995.96 by Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr, and Ron Francis.

of course given how whistles are swallowed, pens should be most confident of the former stat

I think it's amazing that the PP this year set a team record considering the players of the 90's.

Flyers did what I wanted. Believe Jackets and Devils need to win to pass them.

PP opportunities per game are roughly the same in the playoffs as they are during the regular season.

"In the regular season (for 5v5), these teams were called for 3.16 penalties per game and 4.09 penalties per sixty minutes. In the playoffs, the teams were called for 3.31 penalties per game and 4.16 penalties per sixty minutes (again, all for 5v5)."

This is from a 2015 article that studied them, but I don't think much has changed since then. I think it's more attributed that players try to get away with more bullpoop in the playoffs since the intensity and stakes get higher as the games go on... so players are constantly pushing the line in the playoffs and the refs let more poop go. But historically, it seems as though the same amount of penalties give or take like .5 per game, are called in the playoffs.

Clb has no balls. They want no piece of Pitt. Only solidifies that BOB is a mental midget come playoff time and the Pens own him

Ending the Pens Reign is going to be so exciting

What I also found interesting was that NJ didn't pull their goalie... One could extrapolate they did not want to win and face the Pens despite their regular season dominance.

I think this year that outside of Boston, just about anyone could beat anyone in the East. That being said, this series SHOULD favor the Pens, but you never know. If they walk in thinking they can cruise by, the Flyers could do some damage.

While I think the Flyers are the weakest playoff team in the East, they are not to be fooled with. They have the fire power to make you pay.

Either the Flyers knock them out or they make the Cup again, they way I see it.

I could see the Flyers taking Game 1. Just my gut. I think the Pens take this series in five or six games, but I can't see anyone getting through Boston in the East for the cup.

I don't. No way they beat Tampa. Jersey doesn't have the depth.

Not saying it's very likely, but I wouldn't very shocked. NJ has shown the ability to really take down good teams.

Tampa has not been playing good hockey to end the season.

They key is the PP. The Flyers have to limit the # of Pen's PP. It ate them alive. Conversely, the reason the Flyers had success against them for that stretch was because the Pen's could stop the Flyer's PP. The Pens have done a fantastic job against them the last year and a half.
If the Flyers can limit this, they have been strong 5v5 all year. The Pens has been susceptible 5v5. This is how it has to play out......and Elliott standing on his head. If he plays like he did for the Flames last, start the bus.
