Debrincat in his age 20 season has 28 goals playing largely 3rd line all year.
Panarin age 26, has a career high in goals of 31 playing first line with maybe the best setup man in the world.
I agree Panarin is probably a more dynamic offensive creator than Debrincat, but I won’t be surprised if Debrincat turns out to be the more talented goal scorer over his career. - LaheysBRandy
I agree with this as well. |

I like this move. From is in a similar mold as Soderlund: gritty winger with offensive talent and a nose for driving to the net. Ceiling is likely 3rd line for both of them. |

If they don't get rid of Bowman now you may be watching ABD on some other team. |

So what I was hearing was wrong... and happy to admit it: https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1515164
... well at least with Q.
Stan! Put together a better team and let Joel coach a competent team. You need: 2x Dmen (maybe both shut down guys), a C that can win some faceoffs and some grit.
What is everyone's thoughts on this? - Justin Lowe
Does that make them playoff contenders - or Cup contenders?
Lots has to happen if it's to be the latter:
Toews needs at least somewhat of a bounceback year
Saad definitely needs a bounceback year (probable)
Schmaltz and AdB need to continue to improve (probable)
The likes of Hino, Hayden, Kampf, Martinsen, Edjsell, Jurco need to prove to be Cup-contending bottom-sixers
Crawford needs to be Crawford
Plus the steps you noted
Now that the GM / Coaches issue is settled, they need to take the time between now and the draft to really figure out what they have and what they need, and how to go about getting the latter. Stan, Q, Dineen, Samuelson - maybe even McD - are on the hot seat now.

But you are forgetting the upside, Rutta's contract will be gone. |

He was...5th round pick in 2016. He can still sign a PTO with Rockford and the Hawks retain his rights. Just like Bondra signing a contract with Rockford. |

DK said it best when he mentioned we should trade D-Cat, Schmaltz and any other promising young player now so we can get ahead of the cap savings.

From and Tuulola are both draft picks and now both signed to PTOs.
Strange though that Tuulola has yet to play a game. Hopefully he will soon. From, too. |

I'm not sure. If From's season in Europe is done he might just be coming here to practice on North American ice. I'd still like to see Soderlund move to North American. |

fully expected this and been posting so for the last 2 months...they were not firing Q with his resume and credentials and then have him show up in winipeg or st louis the next day...
stand bow does not get to make those extensions and signings if he was being let go.. |

Seeing that both will be back yea. Wrong move but understand why so in my opinion and some might disagree but oh well
2 nhl d man
Top 6 forward lw or rw
Size and grit in the forwards and defense
3rd line shutdown center that can win faceoffs at 50% or better
Crawford healthyv100% veteran backup
Saad towes seabrook kieth need comeback years in hugh way
Puckmoving d man that can quarterback a pp
Now some these needs might already be in house and some need to come from free agents signings and smart creative trades. |

I think they'll have an outside shot at the playoffs if 50 comes back to where he was or at least gets replaced adequately, not with other teams third string castoffs however. Next they need to move up in the lottery and trade that pick as well as others if they want to improve. You don't win with draft picks and rookies. Draft picks are for teams who have been well taken care of by mgt and can therefore build the future but not for teams who have been totally mismanaged for years finally down to last place with little or no hope without a lot of veteran help and even then you can't trust this mgt to do the right thing. They haven't yet so why expect anything different from them. |

Brian McCabe had a great career in Chicago....
just saying that trades don't always work out so well either, if you forego building via the draft.
(To be fair - he was an All Star in Toronto). Kind of ironic with the Sedins retiring. |

certainly your points are just for starters; structurally and tactically this team is a mess all around...
1. players, lines and dpairings need to have their roles defined and play a team game...a guy like ADB can't be runned up and dwon the line-up.
2. this team was the at the top of league shots against, dangerous chances, odd man rushes etc...this is not just about individual skill and talent but about defensive structure and puck transition...
3. power play has to be just plain overhauled....at the bottom of the league again; pk was decent for most of the year but has struggled the last 2 months...
4. they did not work hard or compete most games; in the past the talent/skill carried them and then they turned it up in the the playoffs...that hawk team has died the the over the last 3 years... |

Regardless of how Crawford comes out of this offseason, we need to be sure we have a solid 1B tender on the team next year. There should be plenty of cap space to do so. To leave this position unaddressed would be a brutal miss. |

Ahhh yes bring back the mastermind behind the construction of the Last place Hawks' roster! The guy who traded away a Hart Trophy candidate in Panarin for a 3rd line producer in Saad. The guy who gave away Leddy, Danault, Johns/Sharp, Teravainen and the list goes on back to 2010 with virtually no assets coming back in the Buff, Ladd, Campbell trades either. The guy who gave up two 2nd round picks for 40yr old blood clot Kimmo Timmonen, signed David Rundblad for 2 years, and didn't add to the defense group in 2016 which was that team's fatal flaw. This is the same GM that hasn't drafted a good NHL Dmen in 10 years. What could go wrong?
I hope you all are ready for another year of poop hockey in Chicago! Oh ya, I guess I forgot that 2,7,19+ 50 are gunna find the fountain of youth this summer and Euro League quality defenders in Gustafson, Rutta, and Oesterle are going to magically gain the ability to defend effectively in the NHL at age 27. Status quo for this organization after the last 3 years is ludicrous. Glad I don't have season tickets. [/img] |
