This will only get better after the Hawks draft Quinton Hughes (5'9") in the 2018 draft and Cole Caufield (5'6") in 2019.

Just cut the size of the glove.

It used to be the size of a trapper's mitt - yes, 50 years ago, but....

They don't have to get THAT small, but I fail to see any protective value in the size it is now.

Reduce it to half the length and width - plenty of safety, plenty of ability to catch a puck (instead of having the glove do the catching - more goals scored.

Al was touting (using a race track term in his honor) this last year.

I could easily accept this approach. It does look like the glove takes up about 12.5 percent of the net. You have a good 1st proposal.

I'd like to see the width of the Leg Pads reduced, as well.

If only AZ would consider him a lost cause and buy him out. That would be so nice to get a solid dman back.

And before you pile on with 'he's done', just know that he's playing for an AZ team that couldn't win a game to start the year (11 games), and he's had a few injuries. They won 2 out of 20 games. 2. Nobody is rushing back to steer the sinking ship.

I think Q would kill to have Hammer back, he'd probably kill to have even Oduya back after this season's Rundbladapalooza.

Here is a surprise:

Columbus BJ. today recalled Alex Broadhurst from AHL

He had a career year so far in 2017 -'18: 19 22 in 66 gp
He is 5th year in AHL & his brother is also still on his Cleveland team. FYI

Arizona had a good record last 20 gp. In most games.

Hjalmarsson was traded at right time; injury prone and beat up from blocking so many shots and absorbing many checks. The problem with his trade for us is, that Murphy is not as good as we hoped for. Murphy might turn out to be acceptable third pair, valued for his muscle because in future we will be pairing him with an offensive dman who has no physical game. Murphy does not skate well enough to play but third pair irregardless Samuelson or anyone coaching the defense.

I have a problem with Mr Beavis B**tthead aka Bettman. His justice and punishment is foul - it stinks, it is unfair, it needs to be changed.

Marchand was handed a five game suspension for an elbow after the play was blown dead. That elbow concussed NJ Devils M Johansson. He who has missed like 29 gp and just now resumed skating in practices.
Nice touch to take one player away from helping his team advance to playoffs while Marchand sits five then commits other foul moves in later games.

The fines don't amount to that much money, Marchand replied.

Maybe Bettman needs to be checked rather hard into the boards to knock some sense into him. How much more of Marchand's antics before he gets a Raffi Torres type suspension. The league needs to lay down the law. Johansson wonders who next and if it may end their career.

Backes, Marchand: two **sholes who deserve a good kicking.

Marchand is getting older now. He will be needing maintenance days before too long. Like when playing against NJ or Chicago. He wouldn't want to try to play in a rundown condition and possibly suffer a career ending injury.

Before the pre-game show, Jamal Meyers was asked what he thought Toews had to do to get back to being Toews. he said something very close to this……"Maybe lose some weight, get faster, to get to more pucks. Maybe give up 15% strength to get there, but be quicker"

Couldn't believe my ears. Seems to go directly against the general consensus here. i mean, if he actually got another 15% weaker…..then what ??

In reality, he needs to get stronger, faster and remember how to dangle. Good luck with that!

Toews needs to get his arse back in the gym and put some muscle back on. He looks thin and weak on the puck.

Edjsell with a couple nice plays with the puck early on. He's got a very short stride for how long his legs are. Not a great skater, but moves well enough. PP1 look for Big Vic as well.

Edjsell doesn't look half bad for a guy who is new to the NHL. He doesn't look lost like Martinsen seems to be 75% of the time.

Martinsen had a nice hit on Burns, haven't seen much of a forecheck like that this entire season other than Hartman once in a while.
