He sure has been this year. Dunno what happened but the guy has had a real hard time staying in his crease. Maybe he's just trying to do too much. Dunno.

Maybe if the D-corps in front of him wasn't such TRAS...oh wait, nevermind. Maybe just an off year

In fairness, it HAS been trash at times, but that can happen when you don't have a lot of confidence in your goaltender.

If Scott Darling were offered back to you for 50% of his cap hit retained, would you take him back?

Sure, we'll send Seabrook back at 0% retained.

Here's a crazy thought...Chicago received better value for the 3rd round pick they gave up for Jurco than the 3rd round pick Carolina gave up for Darling.

one guy I have heard mentioned in a trade was anisimov getting traded to Philly with Morin a big dman coming back with a pick and another prospect maybe goulbourne. I would love that.

Considering we now have a goalie concern with CC's health, I could see Stan trying to swing a deal to bring Darling back.

I would carefully think this through. Because Darling makes too much coin and an pro con discussion would result in difficulty to say whether you choose Berube, Forsberg, or Darling the better long term choice. Their ceiling. I go with Forsburg. With a third goaltender of near equal value you would be making too deep an incision into the salary cap. If Darling, then one of the other departs.

Actually i suggest stay with our current two, plus Crawford and Dellia. I don't see Glass back here again

Perhaps, but $2.075M per year for three years isn't an overly prohibitive contract if he doesn't cut it.

Unless there's a specific plan to replace Anisimov I wouldn't trade him. AA is one of the only guys that consistently parks himself in front of the net. Injuries are certainly a concern, but when he's healthy Anisimov is a solid contributor.

As long as he's NHL ready then sure, but if he's not and Stan has traded AA then the team is even worse off down the middle.

If he's not ready, then how much worse are the Hawks really going to be? Anisimov is a solid depth center and great on the PowerPlay net front. However, this team is last in their division due to the defense. Keeping/trading Anisimov is not a huge difference if the team plays the same 6-7 defense-man next year IMO.

I liked Darling a lot and would take him back 50% retained right now.
He's big enough to reach both sides of the net at the same time so it makes no sense for him to lose the net on a consistent basis. He did well here so I don't think he went horsepoop over a summer. The way you describe it sounds to me like he's trying too hard to do too much to earn the larger contract. I'm pulling for him and am a closet Canes fan because of it.

Using that argument you would trade everyone and totally rebuild. The team needs to improve their power play and AA has been their best PP weapon.

Yeah that's my thought as well. He seemed to have settled down a lot since Ward started doing most of the heavy lifting, and now they're going to go back to him to give him a chance to get on a roll to finish the year off.

I hope he finds it, because we desperately need even .915 level goaltending.

NEVER EVER could understand why Hayds was sent down to begin with. It's a farging joke he was. He did nothing to get sent down, was giving the Hawks toughness, net presence and some skill while being mostly relegated to fourth line minutes. His effort was there and the justification that he needed to play "more important minutes" in Rockford was silly considering how inept the Hawks were among their top 6 in terms of the things Hayden brought. AA brings the net presence but doesn't bring the edge Hayden does. So we sent Hayden down, started up a no-check hockey team and the Hawks tanked.
- kwolf68

He was sent down to play more minutes in a top 6 role. Hawks have a higher ceiling for him than a 4th line grinder dude. Nothing wrong with the move.

He is all over the place. He was similar when he first came up to Chicago. He isn't the first guy to struggle in his first year after signing a big contract, relative to him.
I expect he will bounce back next season.

Oh boy. Nothing like pinning your hopes on a guy who took 5 years to make it to the top league in Sweden which is roughly an equal to the ECHL. Not to mention his skating prowess has been compared to Dennis Rasmussen. Guy's a nothing.

Hence the Lottery Ball in my follow-up post. If Anisimov can be traded for a 1st round pick or high upside young defesenman, I wouldn't hesitate. It's going to be a long rebuild, and Anisimov is already too slow and pushing 30.
