This is probably the most comfortable and business like Forsberg has looked in the crease all year. He hasn't been over playing his position and keeping it simple. Hopefully he is finally settling in. Big test to hold this lead in the final stretch.

Not going to happen with Marchand not in the game.
But anybody who thinks that Marchand had a legitimate reason for staying out of this game is pretty naïve. Anything even remotely borderline by Marchand today would have been met with an mass response by the Hawks who know that they were shamed by their inaction yesterday. Would Cassidy take that chance -his leading scorer on the bottom of a dogpile? Cassidy is smarter than that.

Is Cassidy really that smart? Keep putting him in the line-up? Hurt one of their Rooks and then maybe he will become smarter.

40 year old Chara beats the $27MM men coming back on the backcheck. Pathetic.

Well, these teams are where they are for a reason I guess. Would have taken a real clutch glove save to stop that one.

Boston playing today without their no 1 scorer (and dbag), center and dman and their backup goalie in net. Hawks are a loooong way away...

The difference between high quality goalies and others - the former make difficult saves - even on “can’t blame the goalie” shots - late in one-goal games.

Forsberg, Berube - haven’t shown that quality.

I don’t know - Khudobin just made two saves on tough shots in the slot that I would say would have gotten past Forsberg.

snipers shot: goalie no chance; it goes in or hits a crossbar

Totally agree. Crawford learned to battle and make those stops, I hope one of these guys can find it. Chara with a big goal, Seabrook missed the net... Toews with a huge chance but big save.... At least they got the lead back.

Khudobin seems not to have it, either....

For all the credit he gets as a passer, he absolutely has a top-5 shot in the NHL.

Was that Jonathan Toews I just saw creating separation from a defender to set up Seabrook's goal?? Nice game from 19-88-20. Hayden doing his job with the screen.

Another multi-point effort for Goose today.

I think he likes playing the Bruins.

Hayden looks like a guy motivated to play in the NHL in these games since he was called up. A lot like he was to start the season. If he can keep bringing it like that, the Hawks are gonna have a lot more success. Seemed like the team had a lot more jump today (maybe knowing they were in the national TV spotlight?). I wonder what got them going today, but I hope we get more of this level of effort when the games matter again in the fall.

Saad had a couple close chances again and found some of that speed on that play up the middle, but they still need to find a way to break him out of this slump. 3 goals in 31 games since the calendar flipped to 2018 (granted some of that was playing 4th line). Things would look a lot better going into next season if they can get him back into form.

5.3M cap hit killed the team? Really THAT’s the cap hit that’s doing it? Even playing on the 3rd line chipping 25+ goals that contract was not a killer.
- tyweb69

Hossa actually had 26g I believe including 8 game winners...Losing Hossa was only part of the problem and as you mention the cap hit was certainly worth it. Hossa continued to be a demon on the backcheck all season as he's always been. Should have won at least 1 if not more Selke(s), but since he doesn't play center...

As far as the game today it was a nice win against a quality opponent - who by the way was missing 3 of their top guys Bergeron, and the two thugs Merchand and our old friend from the Blows (Backes). Sadly it'll cost the Hawks in the race to the bottom as it were. But it's important the young guys get the feeling of winning.

Thought Hayden and Scmaltz really stood out today.

I REALLY want to believe that. I go along with your assertion but maybe 75% convinced the team would go after Marchand if he played. Toews would have. Hayden too. Seabrook, Murphy....anyone else?

If you didn't read through to the end of my post which is the first one on page 11, then you missed seeing my report that Crawford has an addiction. Whether the snowmobile thing is a cover or he also had a concussion, i don't know. But the team is covering up a sensative issue. It will likely stay under wrap for only so long. A couple of persons do not wish to attach their name to this information.

This summer offer Crawford straight up for Br Lemieux. Be rid of $6 million. Sign Carlson and offer Keith to exchange our #2 2019 for their #1 2018.

You have an agitator. You have two #1 2018. Carlson replaces Keith. Jokiharju and Forsling develop one more year. If Sikula signs, then later on you can trade a top young skill forward for a young gritty forward. You now have a team with hope which can strive to get into playoffs. When Seabrook is bought out in two yesrs, you have money to upgrade the goaltender position
