Agree that's valuable information that wiz provides and insight so what if he promotes his site from time to time. Bring back the wiz the users that reported him can suck it!!

I thought this was the positivity blog? The defense is still a mess but the forward group has potential to be quite good. I forgot about Sikura. I'm expecting him to be a 3rd line type all around solid guy. Hopefully his college playmaking ability translates well to NHL hockey and he can be top 6 player. At some point very soon a trade of a young and talented forward (not Schmaltz) for a young & talented defenseman needs to happen. Even if Bowman grabs a high end D prospect with their Top Pick, that guy probably won't be ready this year. While Gustafson and Oesterle have their positive moments making plays with the puck, they are an adventure without the puck and weak in physical battles.

Joe Sakic knows what kind of Dmen he didn't like to play against...big, physical and mobile enough to keep up. Eric Johnson is massive and he's out injured. Minus Barrie and Picard (who are highly talented offensively), they have 4 big young defenseman back there. I'd like the Hawks to have a more similar look on the backend moving forward. Just too easy in the Hawks zone all year.

I was being positive. I was seriously wondering what you think would be the “best” D-lineup we could realistically put together next year.

Keith-Murphy
Forsling-Seabrook
Gustafson-Rutta

It's going to look similar unless the GM gets very aggressive.

If they can improve their communication, I’m not against a Seabrook/Gustafson pairing. I think with the cap going up, he will be able to bring in someone relatively significant. Really not a fan of Rutta’s game.

No Zadina or Svechnikov if we get a top 3?

Sure if the Hawks are fortunate enough in the lottery you go for one of those guys. My view was they're sitting in the 8/9 spot and those guys would be off the board by then.

It would be fun to see several people on this board blow up if they drafted an Eastern Bloc player with their 1st overall.

I'll always pull for Darling but I wonder if his rough year had something to do with this.

Emphasis added "difficult to find and work smoothly" than actually whom accepts/wants the GM gig under the new relationship in Carolina. How good does the Dallas Cowboys person feel about his role under Jerry Jones. Is that person a figurehead GM who shuffles papers more than anything else?

Hard to believe 1 year ago Hocks were number one team in the West. Who would have thought they would crash so hard in that short of time. When you make those summer trades I guess it was expected but just Wow. Panarin was basially gifted to you and Bowman feels he wasn't worth keeping? He should be let go for that alone.

Question now becomes can you make the playoffs in the next 5 years? 50:50 odds on that. But at least Ryan Seabrook will still be under contract to help in 2023-

Hartman with his second game winner Tuesday. That may be a gift to the Preds that keeps giving

I don't need to go into the details about the weakness of the Blackhawks prospect pool per rank among NHL teams. Many are informed on this site.

Many here might scoff initially if i draw a comparison to one of the league's doormats. If i even mention the defensemen, i know there are several here whom would scream "creampuffs applenty" and i do fere bad if your blood pressure takes a hit.

But to your surprise comes along the red hot Phoenix Coyotes. Really. Really like 8-2 or something like that and playing well lately.

How is that possible; there is an explanation for this some are muttering.

Well it is true they have many young players. Playing ok, playing better lately, developng but none exactly leading the troops, eh! Oh that Panik probably is pissed off and proving he belongs. Yes, probably something along that line is true.

Here is the shocker for you: that defense. Young defense led by young veterans. They are quick, skilled, they are the protypical defense set Samuelson wants but Q screws up. The only thing Q can coach well is a veteran cast and maybe if there is a stud young kkd, even a rookie.

I had to say that about Q given the future of our blueline corp

The Coyotes feature star O E Larson but they have a quick skilled Chykrun expected to become really good
. They have veteran offensive type dmen in Demers and Goligowski..Balance that group with whom else but the now he has been healthy and is back to reliable old self - our former defense Hjalmarsson..Hjalmarsson.balances out
&big.Schenn fills out the defense. Connaughton jas managed to stick around too

Introducing the protype Samuelson defense as the 2020 '21 season unfurls.

It could happen this way for us? To be continued.

My bad. I wasn't connecting the Darling signing.

It's crazy because I thought for sure he'd go in and take over for Cam Ward, but Darling has been sub-par at best.

Wonder what happened? Maybe he's just not a starter after all.

They have to eventually get a guy in to replace workhorse Ward. Do you know if they have anyone coming down the pipeline or are looking to trade for anyone?

What they have now is a hands on team owner. What a hands on owner does is right away want to identify whom to keep and whom to barter.

Just spitballing....would a once too many concussed Crawford (for our liking?) Be a steal for a new owner?
For a draft pick?

No idea. They have to get rid of Cam Ward. Have to. He's been like a goddamn curse on this organization for a decade.

No. He's talked at length about wanting to drive this team via analytics. There's an awful lot of money to spend this offseason, and a real big % of it is going to be thrown at John Tavares.

The Tavares drama is going to be really interesting.

You think the Canes can land him, man? That'd be sweet, honestly.

The Panarin trade is on Bowman. I guess the only issue is what would he have wanted this coming summer as a extension. We would have been better off giving him 7 x 7 and getting him long Term a year ago. The hammer trade was on Q. Murph looks like he could be a #4RD if he was used correctly. IMO we traded a decling #2/3 making 4.25 for 2 more years for a improving #4/5 that was signed at 3.8 for 5 more years. that one you need to look over at least another year to decide the winner.

So RFA's are Duke, Hino, Jurco, Hayden, all should be pretty easy to sign. Rutta as a UFA hard to say. So It looks like we have room for 1 good UFA or 2 mid level guys. I know some people don't like him but this team cannot overpay for past performance. mid level UFA d are usually 4-6 guys which we have already. I would rather give all the money to one guy and get a real upgrade. for me it would he E kane. Gives us size and speed. We still have very little size. Is it just me or does both SAAD and KANE look thinner then 2015?

I thought Carolina was a "budget" team, as opposed to one that spends to the cap.

If it is - even if they decide to throw a big piece at Tavares - why would he go to a team that wouldn't spend to the cap to get a Cup challenging squad?

I think they're on the rise. Need to get the goalie situation figured out. I think getting Tavares would be the domino in helping bring in other dudes to build that "Cup -challenging squad" you know?
