Nothing I grew. Novel thought, 1 yr @ 2.25 might be tempting to a cap cellar dweller team this summer.

Once again, there's only one of those teams.

$2.25 million....WTF?????

No kidding. Too much.

I swear if StanBo signs Jurco to an extension I'll be driving the fire Stan train.

$2.25 million would have been fine...if that was spread over 3 years.

I really did not want all of Oesterle, Rutta and Gustafsson to return next season. One of them would have been fine as the 6D or 7D would have been fine, but not all three. Hopefully Stan has something else up his sleeve for the off-season.

DK I haven’t researched Rutta’s new extension - you’re saying it is 1 year at $2.25? I read right through the one year assuming 2 years. Over 2 years it is arguably too much - for 1 year it is insane.

That wouldn't have given Rutta a raise from his current 950K

I would've been fine with Rutta signing Gus's contract, and Gus signing the min RFA qualifying offer (under 1M)

Another one year, $800K-$900K deal would be fine, he can be buried in Rockford easily.

The way Stan is handing out money makes me wonder what he'll resign Hinostroza, Hayden, and Duclair for.

Schmaltz can be re-signed this summer too, among the forwards I would make that my priority. I know Schamltz is a pending RFA in 19/20 but if he has another solid season it will cost that much more to sign him.

I just hope he pulls it together. He turned out to be a class kid and deserves a break.

It's one season (2018-2019) for $2.25 million.

Nobody expected this.

The thinking was that his numbers were so good that even if he regressed, he'd be average.

He's been abysmal, but there's hope that maybe he can make a comeback. The weight of the contract may have been too much for him.

- BINGO!

I remember seeing the news of the huge contract and thinking, "Good for him, but, man...that's a big contract for a smaller sample size of experience compared to a lot of other dudes."

I'm fine with the Rutta signing. I like it.

There's going to be some shuffling this off season and some dudes moved, so there wil be plenty of space.

Just my opinion.

Haha. So true. I hate the trend of small, puck-moving blueliners.

Can we get some bigger, stay-at-home, true Defensmen in the mix again, please!

Please - do some actual analysis. Panarin is older and uni-dimensional and didn’t care at all about his team-mates. I’ll go along with Toews who despised him. Yes let’s give him 6M to cause ongoing dissension. Ovechkin is a “sniper” not Panarin who barely got 30 playing with Kane and may not get 25 this year.

It's going to look similar unless the GM gets very aggressive.

John Carlson for 7.5 million per year would help.

The one thing that is so obvious is the fact that Rutta is clearly twice as good as Gustafsson. Ha! StanBo must just throw a Dart at balloons with numbers inside.

It's either that or he knows he's going to be gone and has decided to hamstring the team on his way out the door.

I would be happy at 2 years and you're right too many 6D/7D types. Musical chairs for them next camp?

All three contracts could be moved if need be. Seeing that they're not overly large or long term.

That's what I was thinking, Stan's scorched earth policy on the way out of town, lol.
