Apparently Poile figured out that he was so much way better off with Hartman than the Swedish kid who was Nashville's 10th rated top prospect (my goodness that's a really low rating). In fact so much so that he was willing to quickly give up a first round draft choice in order to cement the act of dumping, I mean trading this kid on Chicago. I only hope it ends up working out for us somehow.

Who gives a poop what Poile thinks? Is that seriously still your argument? Is he the end all, be all of GMs?

Yes...Poile is a god.

Even when the Hawks make trades in years they win the cup , they are scrutinized/the wrong moves.

All Poile or any other GM has to do is make a trade, and it's a win

I didn't know the NHLs second most winning coach in history wasn't a real coach. My mistake.

I know Q has his quirks, but to say he's not a real coach is beyond ignorant. Nobody outside of grumpy Hawks fans think that.

Also, that Swede guy was lost in the lower league of the Swedish Hockey system until he lit up the second league. He just never played Juniors so he wasn't on a radar.

- JRoenick97

Every coach has a shelf life. Q has expired IMO. What he’s accomplished in the past has no bearing on what’s happening now.

Oh my goodness...did I just read he was only NASH's 10th rated prospect???? And we traded for him?

Rated that poorly and the Hawks get him. We sure got fleeced because we didn't even get the 8th or 9th rated prospect...who must be better

✋🏻

A redo on a late first round pick will likely not help this team on the ice for several years. The core’s not getting any younger.

- Ogilthorpe2

Do you think the core + Q is still a contender? I for one absolutely do not.
Do you trust Stan Bowman to retool this team enough to be contenders again next season? I for one do not.
Do you believe that with the core + new coach we are a contender? I do not.

Stan was very non-committal to Q at his presser today. He stressed that they've gotten their push this season from the young kids, but it's on the veterans to lead the way (which they obviously have not). But he didn't even remotely come close to saying something along the lines of "next season [with a little change] and this team is back in the swing of things].

Sounded to me like they'll embrace this rebuild, regardless of how they feel about the aging core.

You're right, that 1st round pick is a couple years away while Hartman can contribute at the NHL level now. But what difference does it make if the team isn't contending next year anyways? May as well continue to stock the cupboards and rebuild the right way, the way we did it leading up to the start of this decade.

Unless Stan made a gentleman's agreement with Wingels to sign him in the off-season, I think that trading him for a 2019 5th rounder is a slap in the face considering how hard the guy has worked this year.

Or he could feel grateful that he has a chance to win a Cup now.

He's worked himself into a pretty good situation there hasn't he. But that aside I'm trying to figure out what he wants with (according to many on this board) a useless overpaid penalty machine who does nothing good and ruins every chance to win a game like Hartman. In spite of the golden situation Poile has created for his team he must be really dumb right? It must be all luck because he no doubt couldn't be any good just because he wins 95% of these deals could he?

Yes because we all know being rated as a top prospect means your a lock to be an all pro. Good think we got one of the best prospects from NYI in Pokka for our Defense...oh wait...

I'd rather win 3 cups in the last 7yrs than 95% of my deals and no Rings. But that's just me

Congrats on his 95% trade winning percentage though

The elite players tend to gravitate to North America before they are 23. Kampf is a nice player...I actually like him a lot....but we don’t need another one.

I’d rather have Hartman and a real coach, than a B prospect and Q.

We can all judge on who won this trade, but we don't know.we will have to wait until the big guy comes over and who we pick at the draft. From all the highlights,he looks like a good player. But he hasn't played a minute in North America ,so let's see how he performs when he gets hit a little more over here. But he has great size and nice hands. To me it's wait and see.

Sometimes trades can be beneficial for both sides, also. Not every trade is a "who won and who got fleeced?" proposition.

Are you referring to the three cups Talon and Smith handed to Bowman on a silver platter?

Agreed......and just maybe, one or 2 of this CORE might waive in the summer to move on.

What are you talking about? Nashville’s history of success? What success? Last year’s run was a fluke with Rinne standing on his head - as soon as the horseshoe fell out of Rinne’s underwear they promptly lost to the Pens.

The power play doesn't suck and guys like Toews and Saad finish at their regular clip and its a different team.

You're looking at an extra 16-20 goals over the course of the season (from Toews and Saad only, maybe 25 if you count the PP overall) which increases their GF significantly and puts them in the top 5-7 in terms of scoring.

That is probably good for another 7ish wins and some OT cheater points which conservatively gets them +15 points and has them tied for 3rd in the central.

Those guys have a bounce back year, they get decent veteran minute muncher for the blue line (like a Rozy or Sopel type that can help steady the young guys) and they aren't in awful shape pending a healthy Crow between the pipes.

I'd say for some those some times are more like every time. I long for the days when Stan was so smug and arrogant he had to win every trade and other GM's reportedly wouldn't deal with him.

At least then I wouldn't have to read all the deals he lost (all of them apparently) according to armchair GM's.

As vested as many hawk fans are on this board, it astonishes me to think that for the 4th straight year they want to look forward to next year with Q and core, as if there is some magic to rekindle.

Talk about doing the same thing over and over and expecting something different....

David Poile - 15 years in Washington as VP and General Manager and about 20 in Nashville in the same capacity. Stanley Cups - 0.

Nothing more needs to be said. He tries and tries ........
