One thing this trade tells us is that Q is not going anywhere next season. At least that is my feeling on it.
- z1990z

Was just thinking this. If 38 was in Q's doghouse and Bowman worked to get rid of him, maybe they will both be back.

I hope Stan isn't done.

Let's not forget Hartman was a 1st rounder , and I think will be a 20 goal scorer with grit .
Too bad things went sideways here.
Stan better get some grit this off season.
Tired of the Hawks being such a soft team .

- HamiltonHawk

Exactly right. Remove the one guy who can hit and actually play hockey. And this trade, while a good one for the Hawks, does nothing to address the defense. I'm looking forward to Hartman taking runs at his old buddies 5 times a year.

I thought this immediately. If the GM and coach are on the same page at this point and the owner is signing off, I'd bet both are back next year on short leashes.

With this Hartman transaction, Q is buying Stanbo a dozen donuts from DD as a thankyou. If Connor Murphy gets moved too, he's upgrading his thankyou to a full dinner.
- RickJ

yeah, just thinking that. Q didn't like a player. StanBo trades that player.
It's not really fitting the narrative that they aren't on the same page.
Or maybe this situation was so bad everyone agreed for a change?
I'm curious what the internal discussions were like.

The defense does not have to be addressed right at this moment. Whether it happens now or in the off-season really makes no difference. This was an excellent trade for the Hawks, especially with Hartman's apparent garbage attitude.

It addresses the future, especially if they draft D in the first. It's a smart move, especially if the Hartman relationship had soured like JJ said. Also Hayden can likely develop in to what Hartman was, plus more.

Will Nashville #1 2018 have as high a ceiling as Hartman..The players in this tier are rated?

Seems inevitable Hartman would not work out well under Q. But each team needs a Hartman type. Where do we get one, Stan. And how do you get a core piece.....BEST source is a very high draft choice. Is it now less likely we have the sweetener to exchange first round 2018 picks.

Stan you do know that if your team gets into playoffs again under your tenure here in Chicago, you cannot expect miraculously a few players step up and are just enough tough to carry us through to victory. Nope, Stan you need more toughness than you had in 2016 and probably 2013. More like 2010 team toughness.

I am thinking your rebuild or re-tool will not be the best way to go forward. But I sense at least one more try to get thi gs turned around by you is ok by McDonough.

I have no clue what McDonough thinks about Q returning..If Q usd so highly revered then I woul d be glad to let some team have him.

NHL Network raking Hawks over coals on this deal. They talked like the Hawks just gave away Hartman. There is value in a 1st, a 22 year old Center who will be in North America next year and flipping a 5 into a 4. They were acting like the Hawks traded Sidney Crosby.

Yes I love the IMMEDIATE character assault of Hartman after he's traded. Sad!

Nobody cares about being made a fool of. It's Steve Ott. He's trying to bait people in to a fight and take them off the ice. Nothing more. Fights win you literally nothing.
- JRoenick97

Ya, I get it, but in that case, a moot point now, Victor Svedberg wasn't some one the Blues worried about that day, That was just vintage Ott trying to make a fool out of someone.
Regarding this kid they got today, I hope Bowman brings him over now and lets him play some games here . Hopefully now he's talking to Philly about Sanheim AND Sam Morin. I want atleast 1big guy that can play and throw jackhammers if needed. We got NADDA as of now.

I hate to see Hartman go but Stan got a really solid return. Plus I don't think you can fully judge this trade in isolation.

Hayden is probably coming back up with Bouma waived, at least. I'd love to see one of those Philly guys come here, but who knows. Excited to see the big Swede we just got.

A First Round pick is a First Round pick. Drafts seem deeper now with players developing quicker before the Draft. I was initially one of Hartman’s supporters but the constant controversy and stupid penalties made me crazy. So the very last play that Hartman made in a Hawks’ uniform was taking a penalty so stupid that it was mind-numbing.
- Z3Hawk

Not sure players develop quicker - they just get called up quicker because of the cap.

If Hartman wanted out, I think this is a good deal. If the Hawks didn't see him in their future, this is a good deal. Hopefully this is one of many moves coming between now and the start of next season.

With this season being over, it's time to move forward. Hopefully this is a deal we can look back on at some point down the road and say the Hawks won.

Good point. It's par for the course, trade a guy, bash his character or he sucked anyway.

Hartman is a good player with some nice upside, plays hard and tough, it wasn't easy to see him moved. But the Hawks got some good value for him.

Hey, if we can get our PP straightened out, this might be a good thing. I get your point, but for all the positives in Hartman's game, he went quiet for long stretches both this year and last. I'm not happy they traded him away, because I too liked what he brought to the team (and would be really interested to see what he could do in a more aggressive system), but at the end of the day, I don't think this is a huge loss.

sent away a former 1st rounder having a bad year like half the hawks roster; 23 with upside and may fit into the preds structured system and 3rd line winger...

hawks get an late unknown 1st, a project center; i can see why this trade works well for the preds...

also Q screwed around with him up and down line-up and used him as a center; hartman is NOT A center...despite his at times bad penalties he was not developed or used right here..
