Justin Lowe: LIVE Blog: Trade Deadline Day / Rumour Chatter Happy Deadline Day everyone!

I don’t know how excited we should all feel today, but I would be surprised if nothing happen at all from the Blackhawks corner.

Regardless of what’s happening out there, use this blog as your up-to-date trade analysis as they happen, as well as a discussion for rumours. I will also be keeping tabs on ex-Hawks as well as larger trades in the NHL and how they may affect the Hawks in the future.

Thanks JL - it will be an unproductive day at work with one eye looking at this post. I really hope something big hapens, this team needs a shock.

Thanks Justin! Will be as glued to the blog as I can be with a lot of errands on my plate and at some point the long drive back from Columbus (went to the game on Saturday).

EDIT: things are super quiet. No real rumors at all. Wondering whether that means crickets today or something big? Would be shocked of no one wanted Wingels at least. Think he’d be great, fleixible, inexpensive forward depth with deep playoff experience.

It's going to be a very quiet day for the Hawks. If anything big happens it's going to be this summer.

Per a source, the #CBJ did indeed inquire about Artem Anisimov's availability, but only offered a third-round pick, and wanted the Blackhawks to retain half Anisimov's salary. Went nowhere. Anisimov was approached about waiving his NMC, though.

Almost offensive.

The Blackhawks’ asking price for Ryan Hartman is said to be a first-round pick plus something, according to a source.

Hi Justin (and everyone), long time lurker/reader first time posting. Just wondering if any of your sources have hinted as to what "fell through" for Crawford not going on LTIR? Do the Hawks feel as if he will come back this season (big mistake in my eyes)?

Stan is in a unique situation for the first time in a long time. You have to wonder if this is his big "make or break" moment. Do nothing and continue to fail (shown the door out), do something bold and fail (shown the door out). He has to hit on any deal he makes (in my mind). Hopefully we see some activity today.

Thanks for all your hard work and I know I'm late to the party but congrats on the new addition!

If that CBJ AA offer is legit....forget about it. That is unserious and tells you the difficulty of moving guys with years of contract left at the TDL.

Nothing big is going to happen herel and this TDL is not some momentous fork in the road for the hawks...

post season and draft is where the action will be...

If this is what Columbus thought AA was truly worth - whew. I have posted here that I believed that the returns some were suggesting for AA were overly optimistic but a 3rd with salary retention? Just seemed Hawks should have moved him last summer. AA makes a good whack of money and we may be stuck with it. Never understood the contract Stan gave him.

I think Stan will sit on his hands today. Nothing "big", like moving a big contract, is likely to happen.
But, I have ZERO confidence in Stan Bowman doing the right thing, anyway.

Coach Q at the DD just east of United Center this morning, telling everyone after they order “That’s on the Blackhawks.”

This feels like a "my how the mighty have fallen" moment to me - reminds me of Sharpy and Keith talking about going to Union Station to giveaway tickets in the dark days pre 2009.

I agree with all of the above. Think any Blackhawks moves are very likely to be small ones. The Hawks don’t have a lot of the right/sexy assets for the playoff TDL - good/hot players on expiring contracts. Hoping that after McDonogh and Karlsson trades or non trades are clearer things will get going.

By not being able to or refusing to put CC on LTIR, Bowman lost his biggest trade piece. Too bad, because he does have much available to deal otherwise.

If that was the offer for AA, what a joke! Players with term on their contracts do not have the value that UFA's possess. That is something that some fans do not grasp.

I'd rather have the Hawks focus on getting Sikura signed. If he goes the K Hayes route...

No disagreeing, but look at Nash. He has done NOTHING in his playoff career, yet look at the returen he brought. Franson should be able to get half that, maybe more. At least Franson has an offensive game.

If there is any interest in Franson today, I am sure he will be gone.

If the team mouth piece has put out there they asked AA to waive his nmc then we absolutley could see hom moved today. Not for the BS 3rd rounder but in a significant deal.

They should hold out for a first rounder for all their rentals. Thats the price of poker.

I guess we’ll see.

Im so damn bored with this team !

If AA is moved today, it should definitely not be with any salary retention moving forward. This team cannot offer these kinds of deals because it is cap strapped already. They would be better off to keep him. You cannot retain salary on one player and then replace him with a full salaried one in our position.

Supposedly cap space is a valuable commodity. I think it's notable that the hawks are willing to put Crawford on LTIR to absorb some salary for a team. And if it doesn't happen it's notable that no other team wants to take advantage of the offer. It will seem like nobody wants to deal with the hawks and or SB and his handling committee.

Well, he spent about a decade in Columbus so he hasn't exactly had extensive playoff experience.
