Claude's boy. I don't know 59, I can't say I've seen him play although he had 10 USHL games before going the Major Junior route. We know he has the genes to be a certifiable nut hits machine: http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=177647

I think I like Hartman more than most. Think as a Shaw type he has a much higher ceiling than Shaw and we saw how effective he was. Asked at JJ's new digs if Hartman reached a ceiling of 125 hits, agitates, adds sandpaper to a lineup, solid skater, 20 goals, 45-50 points is he a role player or fringe core guy?

Wondering if Hartman may attain your rating while Q here and team is bad. I think if team is derper, bettet then they relish Hartman contributiins. I think when teasm is bad Hartman wants to do too much, which is difficult when the team around you is (bottom line guys anyway) not too good.

Yea I saw that as I looked down the original twitter feed (as well as his bar down goal not longer after that). Kid has some serious spunk, and is humorous too.

I think Q does too, he may have been glued to the bench for a different reason than we think.

On high side for dollars, average to slow skater may catch up to him and he is injured each season once or twice. Trade him now SINCE WE ARE NOT GOING TO BE IN PLAYOFFS ANYWAY. If you refute this, I am watching for convincing details why not to move him sooner the better

Curious your thoughts on Winnipeg as I'm sure you watch them. Hard not to like this team and IMO they can win the whole thing this yr, but is the clock ticking? The excellent bottom 6 centerman Lowry is injured. Was out a month, came back for 2-3 games, and is down again.

Wheeler a UFA in 19
Laine an RFA in 19
Lowry an RFA in 18
Enstrom a UFA in 18 (although he's making 5.7 now and they can lose that if they choose)
Trouba and RFA in 18
Hellboy an RFA in 18
Ehlers signed long term and next yr his hit kicks in at 6 mil

My point is if you're Peg do you treat this yr, this TDL, as all in? They have 5.7 in cap space but are gonna have some big boys needing paid over the next 2 yrs. I'm not pushing AA here, just wondering your thoughts on the urgency they should show?

Their C depth, and they have to wonder if Lowry is gonna stay dinged until he gets a full offseason.

Scheifele
Little
Lowry
Hendricks
Copp

Well, like all young teams with loads of talented kids in the system, eventually the Jets will have to deal with deciding on which key ones they re-up and which go elsewhere. And the second thing is that some players around the league think Winnipeg is located north of Siberia and would rather play elsewhere. Trouba is probably one of them, but for now he has no stroke as an RFA. One thing about Winnipeg tho, they love their sports teams and support them and any event that comes into the city. Terrific sports town. So Mr. R, if you want to see the Winnipeg Goldeyes play baseball in the summer against a team like the Wichita Wingnuts you better have a ticket because they are sold out every night.

The Jets, love watching them. Big, fast, quick, lots of nasty and they have worked very hard on cutting out the needless, stupid penalties they were known for (like #38 took last night). They walked into St. Louis and Dallas this week and wamped them both. Blew 5 by the Dallas goalie in the 2nd period last night, thought Hitchcock was going to lose his mind. Would love to see a Winnipeg - Nashville series. Would not be easy for the Preds.

They don't need AA in the middle, they've got centers galore - Scheifele, Little, Perrault, Lowry, Copp, Roslovic, Petan, Hendricks, Petan. And Blake Wheeler was outstanding when he switched to center while Scheifele was on IR. And I don't think Chevy wants to tinker too much with what he has right now, but he was chasing Bressard apparently.

I could see them being interested in a depth D man and maybe another goaltender just in case Mason is done for the season. That's it.

And if you can pick up their games somehow on TSN, they are worth watching.

I get benching a player for a couple of shifts but sitting a player the whole game for one mistake is asinine. It makes your players gun shy. Q has worn out his welcome I truly thank he's been really lucky with his coaching gigs. With the blues and avs. then the hawks were loaded when he can in.
- vandymeer23

I wonder f maybe there was some bantering on the bench (or in the room) between Hartman and Q - maybe a misplaced word or two that got Hartman more than the expected couple of shifts off.

An inexpensive way to "find" a Tom Wilson "type" would be to draft kids who are still developing and maybe still have some room to grow more physically. Extra draft choices allows you to draft more players, therefore increasing odds some of them work out. Anyone with size and a bit of grit plus top end skill is round one and gobbled up. Try to find someone with later picks. We have lots of players now who were later picks but most are not physical type players

You do realize the TDL is tomorrow...and trades can also be made in the off season, right?
- PatShart

If you look at what people pay in the off season its 1/2 of what they pay at the TDL. Kieth, Seabs,Teows, Kane were all worst this year then last year so if we just bring them back best case is they on AVG are the same as this year so Even with a young player bump we are a 90 win team. Is that our goal for the next 5 years until they come off the books?

think about what we could have gotten for PAN and HAM at this years TDL. both would have brought back 1st 2nd and a few top 5 prospects. off season trades make No difference on your team You get back 45% of what you trade. at TDL you get back 75%.

Not defending Bowman, but realistically we picked a bad time to be sellers. Teams with UFA's that can make an impact are laughing. We do not have anything like that to sell and to make a trade just for the sake of making one is not smart asset management either.
- 67hawks

I also think - only think, no empirical evidence - that the best return comes not at the TDL, but early in the draft night - free agent signing period - say by July 4.

If there is nothing overwhelming by tomorrow at 2, Stan is better off waiting and letting things shake out through the first week in July.

Stan’s problem has been that he’s waited too long after that week to move - by the time he had to move, other teams had filled their needs, and there was no team left to trade with or make a market for Hawks he wanted to / had to move.

He's gotta go Mr P. his moves this season alone (how bout an actual nhl backup goalie for starters...but if you want to track back to starting with Leddy in 14 and Sharp in 15 and go from there.

I'm waiting until the Yotes deal Hammer for a 1st and prospect to the bolts or the flyers...(while we got Murphy)...I'm thinkin' people are going to lose it here...

Someone higher up had to sign off on seabrook contract mcdough who should also be blamed for this mess. Yes i know seabrook has a bad year or two but the hawks don't win 3 cups without him and 3 overtime game winners so let up a little yes needs to get in shape and play better next year.

Yea. And Seabrook was well compensated for that . No reason to sign him to this current extension. It wasnt like 7 was going anywhere.

Where Stan messed up is anticipation of the Cap going up more than it has. That miscalculation more than any trade or draft pick really screwed this team up.

And some had the nerve to say he was "a better overall player" than Panarin.
- SimpleJack

That,s a joke. Panarin was in the top ten in scoring every year. A clone of Patrick Kane. Stan should have found a way to keep him. DISGRACEFUL!!!! One of the most dangerous players in the entire league with the puck. Im sure Kane misses him too.

I think most agree the biggest problem is the gm bowman since he has taken over has slowly dismantled a dynasty miscalculation of the cap bad and horrible trades and some good bad contracts after bad contracts the bad has outweighed the good by a large margin but mcdough love affair with the bowmans not to mention that daddy sucked as a gm but was great coach all time winnest coach but all 3 need to go bring in a hockey guy, maybe messier just and example or wirtz has a sit down with olckz and asks him if he up to being a gm or coach yes i know he has been through a lot and good for him beating cancer but its a conversation wirtz should have. Bottom line bowmans and mcdough need to go and Q needs to change his coaching and become more of a teacher and not a zar or he should also.

Yea man.
I think Q is wayyyyyy over rated. Even in the Cup years the Hawks were able to overcome BONE HEAD line ups that Q put out there because of talent assembled by Bowman.
Listen hockey is hard, there are a lot of teams with 0 cups. Sheeeiittt the Blues passed on Toews ! And still have 0 cups. The Rangers havent won since I was in 6th grade ! The Wings are a mess. The Oilers have had more #1 overall picks than anyone and they succkkkkk. The Panthers blow and Dales drafts have been bad. The Habs are dogpoop even with Wayne Danalut . The Wild havent won a damn thing. Sure the Predators are really good but still have not won anything. Its hard to win 16 playoff games.

Id still fire Stan based off of the Seabrook contract and all the NMCs hes handed out. Chief Runsbad, and the fact that the Blackhawks are so DAMN HARD TO WATCH. In bored to death.
